Are we happy that the coat Bob is wearing on Blonde on Blonde is the same coat he is wearing on John Wesley Harding
& Nashville Skyline ?

It’s a great coat, second only to the beauty he’s wearing on Desire.

Is the leather jacket from Newport '65 the same he wore in '75? I think I might have read something along those lines once. It's a cool jacket. And I agree on the coats, too. Should I ever spy a copy of the Desire beauty, I'll probably have to buy it.

I think he got the Desire coat from Dennis Hopper. Hopper wears that coat in The Last Movie which came out in 1971.

The John Wesley Harding Coat is more of a barn coat.
The Nashville Skyline coat may be the same as the John Wesley Harding Coat.
The pictures of him around 1970 on the rooftop are another suede brown jacket entirely.

The Blonde on Blonde coat is a german double breasted waist cut peacoat. Is it a luftwaffe?

The scarf on Blonde on Blonde is the pro-move in that outfit. Awesome scarf I’ve bought many imitations of but they never quite look right.

I’d like a version of that scarf myself

He's wearing the same brown suede leather jacket/coat on Blonde On Blonde, the UK and continental European Greatest Hits LPs from 1967, John Wesley Harding and Nashville Skyline.

Yes, I also think that it is the same leather coat on all those album covers.
goodnitesteve, I don't think this a Luftwaffe coat. Most of those coats had zippers and the ones that were buttoned had their buttons much tighter, or closer to the leather. The buttons on the BoB coat look like the might fall off very easily and I don't think you wNT such loose buttons on a military coat.

It always amazes me what kind of things get discussed here on this forum...

It may not be a luftwaffe, but I think the Nashville skyline coat is different. Blonde on blonde and John Wesley are probably the same though.

There's a brown coat in the gatefold of Self Portrait as well right? I don't think it's the same one, it looks more leather than the others.

The Self Portrait coat/jacket is different from the Blonde On Blonde/UK and EUR Greatest Hits/JWH/Nashville Skyline one. It has a larger collar.

The coat/jacket on Blonde On Blonde/UK and EUR Greatest Hits/JWH/Nashville Skyline is the same. Admittedly it is impossible to tell on the actual Nashville Skyline cover, but the outtakes from the shoot in Elliott Landy's "Dylan In Woodstock" reveal it's the same jacket. Same small collar, same length, pockets and buttons in the same positions.

You have to be joking with us?

Have you forgotten the jacket he wears for Empire Burlesque? THAT is a fabulous jacket.

^Touche. I'll see your Empire Burlesque coat and call one New Morning jacket. I'm quite fond of the pinstripes.

I have the Landy book. I’ll have to take a look when I get home. Bob also put on a considerable amount of weight in Woodstock. Would he still fit in his blonde on blonde clothes?

I may have to dig out my copy of Levon Helm's autobiography, but I'm pretty sure he mentions the famous coat Dylan was photographed in all around the world, I can't remember the details though and will have to look it up.

I recall that as well, but don’t remember specifically.
