So, what Dylan-themed presents did everyone get? Surely there were some obscure rarities for the more lucky of you out there? First edition Scaduto? Trouble in Mind?

Personally it was Chronicles Vol 1. One I've been meaning to read for ages, but never took the plunge. Last year was concert tickets and official bd.com t-shirt.

As for non-Dylan gifts, I'm quite looking forward to tucking into Mick Walls 'Black Sabbath: Symptom of the Universe'. It can't all be Dylan.

Trouble in Mind (Heylin book).

I read the first 20 pages or so around midnight last night. Can't say I am a fan of the writing style so far. In the first few pages he compared a sound check tape quality to Hitler's bombed bunker in WWII? Seems like a juvenile comparison.

Yeah, that sounds like Heylin. He's got a rather over-the-top style that doesn't always sit well with me, though his approach to the music itself (and his encyclopedic knowledge) ends up making a pretty good final product. I think you'll enjoy the book :)

Picture of Dylan's Christmas lights - several experts here said they were a "miracle",
so now people can say they saw a miracle!

Sorry for delay in replying. Didn't get a chance to look at it to see exactly what it is til last night. It is an unofficial DVD compilation of various TV performances e.g. Quest TV show, TV short segments e.g. Garth Hudson going back to visit the Big Pink, music videos e.g. Sweeheart like you, a music video with Harry Dean Staunton playing a bootlegger, concerts e.g. bits of RTR.

Apologies if I have misled you, I don't think there is anything on there not already released officially. It's not a bootleg recording of concert performances.

My friend bought it in some dingy second hand record shop. Looks cobbled together on the outside. Picture quality is good though. Doesn't give dates for anything on it.

Hope the copyright police don't arrest me for receiving this gift!!
