I've just come across this absolutely beautiful live version of "I Want You" on youtube, and I'd love to know which show it's from so I could download it. Anyone here who can help me? :)

I think it's from 1981-11-10 New Orleans.

Wow. This is so good. It kind of proves that Dylan can 'sing'. (of course We already know that, though).

It sounds very similar to his 1987 dead tour voice but without the dead. Is it really 81?

It definitely is, I listened to that New Orleans show religiously for a while and it sounds exactly like the performance of I Want You from that date. That whole show is aces

Gosh, that's embarrassing - I'd really believed it was something else than New Orleans, but you're right of course  thanks for all the replies! That I Want You is marvellous (but I'm always lamenting because he never played it in 1966 nor in '75 - I'm sure that would have been incredible!)

He did play it in 75 during Neil Young's benefit concert, but his mic was broken. One of the biggest tragedies in my opinion.

Don't be embarrassed! There was one time I thought a performance from '94 was from '88, and those are usually two very different vocal periods for Dylan! Sometimes there's hints of his former style or even hints of a future voice in his performances
