Hello, Here's another poll I thought interesting: Which do you think are the top 3 tracks on the album Slow Train Coming?

I like most of the songs on the album, but the strongest is Gotta Serve Somebody. Perfect vocals, arrangements are one of his finest and good All I Really Want to Do-like lyrics. (Do you get what I mean?)

I love how songs like Precious Angel and Do Right To Me Baby build up. The way of songs' building up is what I do like about Bob. My second vote goes for the former.

I think Bob's vocals on When He Returns is quite polished, and make non-believers like me faithful (for a little while). My third vote goes for that.

Look forward to see how the result goes.

For me, When You Gonna Wake Up and I Believe In You are the best two tracks. Through the years I believe In You found its way into the setlists with some beautiful performances and it has stood the test of time.

Slow Train Coming and Gotta Serve Somebody probably fall in line next with Gotta Serve Somebody. But Precious Angel is so much fun to listen to live.

For me, When He Returns is the finest song on the album combined with a wonderful performance, although he has not gone back to it in live performance much, if at all, since this era.

After that, I opted for Serve Somebody and Slow Train, but there were hard choices to be made.

My favorite is I believe in you. Utterly beautiful.
I also selected Gotta serve somebody and Slow train thinking of the way they sounded live. If we´re talking strictly the studio versions on STC record, my other 2 choices would probably be Precious angel and When he returns

This is a tough one! There's not many obvious standouts for me it's just a consistently good album. Sonically it's one of his most well put together albums too, it really does have such a cohesive flow and tone. Precious Angel is probably the closest to reaching masterpiece level, the other two choices could be basically any of them (with perhaps the exception of God Gave Names).

When He Returns, Precious Angel, and at #1, I Believe in You, in all it’s voice crackling awesomeness

Yes, one of Dylan best vocals on his albums. Good song, too. Dunno about the rest, been awhile since I played the whole thing. I think I can go without GSS and MGNTATA, in any case.

Yes, that would be my answer, too. I would rank When He Returns at the top spot, though. The passion in this performance is just unbelievable.

Ditto for me. Interesting to see a few others who do not choose Gotta Serve or Slow Train....grave

1. Do Right to Me Baby
2. Precious Angel
3. Slow Train (though it's been done better Live)

I would have included do Right To Me Baby but the album version seems so tame compared to the 1978 live version I went with When You Gonna Wake Up instead (you know Bob is in preacher mode with that track)

1. Glad I believe in you is gaining ground!
2. The people who voted for Man gave names to all the animals need to step up and offer some sort of explanation

Great album. All so good!
Had to force a vote:
Angel, Wake Up, Returns.

It's fun, doesn't sound like anything else Bob has done, and it's not condescending or conservative like a lot of the rest of the music on the album (which I greatly enjoy). It's a great song. Townes Van Zandt thought so: https://youtu.be/iGbWJ7aSHSA

My other two choices were "I Believe In You" and "Gotta Serve Somebody". Top three live performances from STC would be a different story.

1. Gotta Serve Somebody
2. Slow Train
3. Man Gave Names To All The Animals

1 & 2 are fairly obvious picks. #3 just has this groove that I cannot get enough of. Even when I wasn't digging this phase of his oeuvre as much, that track ruled to me. Now I'm a general appreciator and enjoy the whole danged thing.
