Thanks! Lots of good stuff. They chose the right version of City Of Gold. Good. A personal favorite of mine. Caribbean Wind is quite different from the other versions I've heard.

Amazing. A lot of these versions are very fresh. Covenant Woman sounds so much better than on record.

started with the four outtakes, "When He Returns" and "Covenant Woman" are amazing

"Shot of Love" and "Dead Man, Dead Man" (7:20 long) alone are worth the price of the deluxe edition.

several different lyrics in this version of Dead Man, like this one:

"... the silver spade that waits for you to throw dirt upon your tomb, ooh, I can’t stand it, I can’t stand it, you running out of room, dead maaaaaaaaaaaaan, dead man ..."

I just listened to this. Man it's craptacular. Can't believe people are actively looking forward to this. Had to wash my ears out with some Hard Rain.

Every. Single. Thread. We get it, you don't like Bob's gospel albums and you have a far more refined taste than anyone who enjoys it. Now pipedown or make a new point.

You can crucify me but I will grow back stronger than you could possibly imagine. And this album will still be pants.

I mean, if you can point me in the direction of a modern artist that can write lyrics as rich as Caribbean Wind I'll gladly chuck my £££ in their direction instead.

I thought the released version of Caribbean Wind would be the regular outtake. I'm glad to hear this version, it's verrrry good.

Wow what a fantastic Carribean Wind. Added a little pep in my step today here in gloomy Gotham City. Excited to fly out to Chicago tomorrow to catch the show.

She was from Haiti, fair brown and intense
I don’t think she’d ever known about innocence
I was playing a show in Miami in the theater of mystery.
Told her about Jesus, told about the rain
She told me about the vision, told me about the pain
That had risen from the ashes and abided in her memory.

Was she a virtuous woman? I really can’t say
Something about her said trust me anyway.
As the days turned to minutes and the minutes turned back into hours.
I pretended to be sleeping and he thought I was
But I was only paying attention like a rattlesnake does
When he's hearin' footsteps trampling on the flowers.

The Caribbean winds still blow from Mexico to Curacao
From Chinatown to the furnace of desire.
And them distant ships of liberty on the iron waves so bold and free
Bringing everyone that's near to me, closer to the fire.

Our shadows drew closer, until they touched on the floor
Prodigal son waiting close to the door.
Preaching obscenities, waiting for the night to arrive
He was well connected, but her heart was a snare
And she had left him to die in there
But I knew I couldn’t get him out while he still was alive.

Well the stars in the balcony, flies buzz my head
Ceiling fan was broken, there’s heat in my bed
Street band playing, "Nearer My God To Thee.”
She looked into my eyes, I heard the mission bell ring
She said, "I know what you're thinking, but there ain't a thing
You can do about it, so we might as well let it be.”

And the Caribbean wind still blows from Mexico down to Curacao
From Chinatown to the furnace of desire.
And them distant ships of liberty on them iron waves so bold and free
Bringing everything that's ever close to me, closer to the fire.

Atlantic City by the cruel sea
I hear a voice crying "Daddy”, I always think it’s for me
But it's only the silence in the buttermilk hill that calls.
Every new messenger bringin' evil reports
About armies that are rioting, whose fuses are short
And them ugly gargoyles and hate words written on walls.

Would I have married her? I don't know I suppose
She had bells in her braids, fire in her clothes
But the curtain was rising, like they say “the show must go on”.
And I felt it come over me, some kind of gloom
I was gonna say "Come on with me, i got plenty of room.”
But i knew i'd be lying and besides she had already gone.

And them Caribbean winds still blow from Curacao to Mexico
From Chinatown to the furnace of desire.
And them distant ships of liberty on iron waves so bold and free
Bringing everything that's near to me, nearer to the fire.

The new version of Caribbean is good, but nowhere near the circulating demo version, which might be the greatest thing Bob ever did.

(Hides from Bennboy...)

It's definitely one of the things he did.

Wow - you gotta check out Covenant woman take 3. He's doing an improv melody in the lower key. It's so Dylan... holy crap. So much better than the released version. This take should have been the keeper.

I came here to praise Caribbean Wind, and found that I wasn't the only one. It's incredible. Hard to say if it's better than the previous released versions, but it's a masterpiece. The best thing I heard from this release yet.

Ohhhh c'mon- too slow, the drama is lost, and he's obviously just rewritten the lyric again leading to much hesitancy in the vocal (fair enough, it's a rehearsal)...trippy to be hearing it tho, don't think this was rumored to exist?

Not really been impressed by anything off the rehearsal tape, but then it is just a rehearsal tape...I'm looking forward to spending more time with the convert recordings when the physical release arrives. Having said that I still haven't got all the way through the '66 box. Think I'm just getting around to Paris...

Doesnt have a terrible chorus like the Rattlesnake version and isnt overproduced like the Biograph one. Ranks as the best for me
