There's a rehearsal boot from 1976 that has a couple snippets of Tangled up in blue. My folder says "Going going guam"

There's a little bit that's slow, some fast, there's a rollicking version where the band stops for the "Tangled up in blue" line in harmony, then they start up again.

One of my favourite boots. (Especially Idiot Wind from Shangri La rehearsals, disc 4, where he messes up the lyrics)

“One Too Many Morning.” A majestic performance from the 1966 European Tour with the band that would basically turn into The Band (featuring Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson and Richard Manuel). Danko (who sings backing vocals) and Robertson are visible at times. If I remember correctly, there’s just one shadowy image of Manuel, and none at all of Hudson.
Come.”

Is this previously unreleased too?
Cant have too much 1966 video out there!

Yeah, but this is a thread about that crazy, compelling, balls-to-the-wall version of TUIB.
Some day ER'ers will see this. I hope I'm still around.

Put this together last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkWYEPrqg4E

Hope it helps to tide some of you over, until—God willing—the "official" footage finally makes its way into the light.

This smoking "Tangled" just might be my favourite all-time Dylan performance. I must see the footage .. somehow!

Yeah, thanks hjh. That's really something else . . . a sonic stoning!!

TUIB: 75 --> 76 --> 78 tells a great story of an artist at his peak.

I was there. It was glorious. Far better audio than the YouTube provided, and perfectly shot video. Definitely highlight of this year.

Maybe one day something will get out...

Maybe someday...

A pretty good (albeit not perfect) mp3. Missing the first few seconds, but better quality than on the YouTube (someone with editing skills could likely improve). http://www.mediafire.com/file/lsjp9y0aepn0xrb/Dylan_760523_Tangled_FtCollns.mp3

Offered in thanks for all the great rarities I've found here over the years.

Great! Have you recorded this from the video?

Dear Sony,

Please release a big boxset of 75/76 footage. You can add all the deluxe bullshit you want. Charge whatever you want. I'll buy it. Just sell it to me. Please.

And I'll buy a copy for me and another one for a friend.

This is so great. I think Bob must have been taking notes from the current punk rock scene of the time.

Bob Dylan in his prime.

Thanks so much for this! Imagine choosing to leave this off Hard Rain. 2026 can't come quick enough.

I didn't get the joke, nor the rebut.

If it doesn't involve ill feelings or personal things, would you mind explaining?

It's a reference to the oft-rumored version of Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts from Salt Lake City 1976, long sought after as the holy grail of Dylan bootlegs.

ok, fine; I knew it.

I still don't understand the question (Johanna supposedly knows, doesn't she? :) )
nor the *metronome* answer.
But I won't enquire any further....

I just meant that it was highly predictable that the first reply to this amazing news would be a highhanded, dismissive, hipster 'joke' about a hoary old subject, despite the fact that the pundit had NO IDEA THIS AMAZING SOUNDING DISCOVERY EVEN EXISTED mere seconds before replying.

I'm excited about the Letterman performances. I assume these are high quality versions which makes it seem (although unlikely) that we might get these officially released one day on a bootleg series.

Not even sure what the current go-to version of the letterman Jokerman/Licence to Kill/Don't Stop Me Talking is? The copy i got from the 'TV Guide' boot sounded scrappy.

Check out dpam's link to the audio recording he made of the film footage. A significant upgrade on the previously circulating tape.

It might be worth making a matrix of the two...
