I've not bought any of the recent three covers albums. I'm sure they parts that are worthy, but Dylan managed quite a few years without recording them, so I think I can go quite a few years without listening to them. I might do at some point, just not yet.

I think the songs from the past 3 studio albums were the blueprint for
'Moonlight' 'Spirit On The Water' 'Po Boy' 'Long And Wasted Years',
'Beyond The Horizon' and 'Bye And Bye'.
I could imagine Dylan listening to those old songs before writing
the aforementioned songs.
Whether or not we needed as fans three albums, the latter a treble CD collection,
is down to personal taste. What is clear is whether fans needed the albums,
Dylan needed to record them.
He's 76, and who knows how much longer he'll be able to tour, and record?
These songs clearly mean a lot to him, but that doesn't mean as a fan that
we should feel bad for not liking the material, or somehow superior fans
for enjoying the music. Your taste will lead you, everything else is really of
no consequence whatsoever.

PS I bought all three releases, but that was more about continuing to
keep up my collection of one of history's most important popular music
artists ever.

I would not be surprised if we see a 'Best Of The Sinatra Years'.

A single album compilation, with tracks culled from all 5 albums.

As for 'Triplicate', if I see it in a charity shop for £2.99, I could be tempted.

I was in the HMV store in London yesterday, the Triplicate set is now on offer at £9.99 - a saving of £7.00. It wasn't enough to make me flash the plastic and I think I'll wait for the Gospel Era Bootleg Series to hit the shelves.

:? 10 quid wasnt low enough? Which price would you find acceptable?

I emailed a friend, a big Dylan fan, about seeing the set for £9.99 and asked how many copies I should get for her? This was her reply, "Triplicate? I'll wait until it's 99p thanks.". I should have remembered that she gave her copy of Shadows In The Night away after only a few plays!!

I’m waiting for it to hit my local library! That’s how I heard Shadows in the Night and Fallen Angels. Not to mention New Morning, Tell Tale Signs, Tempest, Modern Times, and Love and Theft. Don’t worry, I own many of Dylan’s albums, too!

Just put on Triplicate the other day after not listening to it for a while (the vinyl set is really beautiful), and I get why some people might be a little tired of these albums but there's a ton of great stuff on it. I think When The World Was Young is fantastic, certainly makes me emotional. His delivery on the last lines get me every time.

Compared with other covers albums, I play Triplicate WAY more than GAIBTY and WGW.
