That would probably be the first in The Bootleg Series I wouldn't purchase.

^^ You say that, but then you'll hear some of the tracks and be like " I think I'll have to get this!" Plus it's The Bootleg Series so you have to have the entire set.

How many more "Holy Grails" do fans reckon are out there?

Well yes, but on the level of The Basment Tapes, The Cutting Edge?

Blood On The Tracks, the Gospel era.....

The Dylan well is deep oh so deep but it's not an unending well.

But my personal thought is there is still a lot more to come.

The Bootleg Series could continue with plenty of great content for years and years.

On the level of the Cutting Edge?

The Gospel Set will blow the Cutting Edge out of the water! It will redefine all your misconceptions about that era!!

You might even convert under Bob's preaching!

I think I'm strong enough to resist. I couldn't get into Saved or Shot or any boots from that period so a de-luxe Gospel Set would be easy for me to avoid. Lots of other things would have priority. As for blowing the Cutting Edge out of the water - that's a 'no brainer' for me!

Let´s just wait a couple of weeks and we´ll get the info which stuff they´ll be releasing as Bootleg Series.

Wasn´t it in August last year when they announce Vol. 12 ???

It was announced in September IIRC, while BS 11 was announced mid-august and BS 10 in July.

It's probably ready to roll and go into production whatever it is. To get all the packaging, artwork, track information and liner notes ready is a massive undertaking anyways. When you probably have to do this for a standard version, a de-luxe version and possibly a vinyl edition the planning must be ongoing at Sony. They may well have Volumes 13 and even 14 ready to release when they get the nod.

What possible revelations could there be beyond what we all have in great quality?

You don't know what you don't know.

Bob was passionate and prolific during this period. I'm sure there might be studio gems we don't have. Even different versions of already released tracks would interest me. Bob was so on fire during 79-81!!

I would love an official live gospel release both professionally recorded and mastered. Yes I have the bootlegs but they could sound a lot better with mastering.

I'm not a huge fan of the Cutting Edge so it wouldn't take much for the Gospel Set to trump it for me.

Maybe there were good songs recorded but not released. I have no further interest in any of the above. Unless the people that recorded the songs are misinformed, we've heard what there is for Caribbean Wind. I think people's excitment about that was the idea that it could have turned into something good. unfortunately, bob abandoned that song before he finished it and we've heard all the arrangements of that.

Maybe City of Gold warrants another listen, the rest...meh. They aren't good songs, so who really cares if we get better recordings of them? Not me.

BTW, I'm not trying to rain on your parade. I just don't think there's anything worth hearing that we haven't already.

We're in the wrong thread anyway. I don't give any odds that the gospel set will be BS13...

If nothing else just to get it out of the way and make room for something else in the schedule.

I'd love to hear the complete Masked and Anonymous sessions one day. Incredible performances in the Love&Theft spirit.
Or the BOTT set, or what about 20 years anniversary set of Time out of Mind including the Oxnard Demos.

Has anyone stumbled across any recent news on what vol. 13 will be and when it will be released?

I've heard or found nothing but expect that work is secretly going on to get a release to tie in with the next tour...maybe!

The writer Clinton Heylin, in the current issue of Isis Magazine, mentions that he knows a 1966 Live Box Set is being prepared, and he's heard the shows. How this material will be distributed across a potential Bootleg Series and/or Copyright Extension Collection is anyone's guess, but I think it's pretty much confirmed at this point that the next release will be live 1966 material - potentially tiered like Vol. 12 with a massive box set at the top level.
