How come William Shatner's take on Mr Tambourine Man isn't on the list?

Seriously - best I've heard is Springsteen singing Chimes of Freedom.

And Dylan's version of Watchtower is infinitely better than the Hendrix version.

Nina Simone "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues"
And then Hendrix "All Along The Watchtower" and Rod Stewart "Tomorrow Is A Long Time".
And just discovered Alan Price "To Ramona" last week which is pretty nice.

Steve Howe - Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands

But I will always love

My Chemical Romance - Desolation Row
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOuSxal8pf4

My Chemical Romance was the first band I started to listen, and I feel respect and love for them. During hard times, its music and the music of Bob, and the songs of Stephen Foster have helped me a lot. They are my shelter from the storm.

Wow...really surprised that only a couple of us voted for Jerry's Simple Twist. Masterpiece by The Band would be second for me on this list. And while I'm at it, add me to the group that finds Hendrix's Watchtower over-hyped....grave

Both among my alltime fav Dylan covers.

To each his own - that's true - but when you find someone who shares your tastes - especially when they're not so common! - I must admit I get a really good feeling!
:)

The only 2 covers I love as much are:
No Time To Think - Belle Brigade
Memphis Blues Again - Catbird Seat

Some covers I really enjoy:

Phoenix - Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-bvmWmpBdM)
Beautiful performance from this indie French band. They not cover the whole thing, but still it's a great version. But as I said before, for me the best version is the one of Steve Howe.

The Pogues - When The Ship Comes In (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXJlBGRLLWM)
Very Irish!

Green Day - Like a Rolling Stone (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjNjv15pweQ)
Another band that was one of the first I started to listen (but now I don't like it). This version if so energical, transmits a great feeling of happiness.

Blue Ash - Dusty Old Fairgrounds A-Callin' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81zUmlf8MQI)
Strange song to cover, considering it was played live just once at the Town Hall concert from 1963, and it doesn't appear on any album. It's a magnificent cover with a 70's rock-n-roll rhythm.

Jerry Lee Lewis - Rita May (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfsQIVgf3Yg)
Another strange song to cover. One of the pioneers of the rock-n-roll covering a rare song of Bob, giving his own style to this composition. Jerry did it good!

Bryan Ferry - A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPYoUQjttak)
The good ol' Bryan has an entire album of Bob Dylan covers, released in 2007, but this version of Hard Rain was released back in 1973. He gaves the song a funky rock-n-roll sound that for some reason me makes me think in Andy Warhol. For me, this version and the version of Pete Seeger are the best covers of Hard Rain.

Pete Seeger - A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAIQ8unomcw)
This version was played in a concert at Australia in 1963. The way he sings it and the rythm he uses is just bewitching!

A Japanese guy - Shelter From The Storm (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvpta36gwBc)
Most of the covers of Bob's songs in YouTube are not so good, but man!, this Japanese guy broke all the standards recording a spectacular version of Shelter from the Storm. It's something glorious! Believe me, this is my favorite cover of the song.

Cage The Elephant - The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvCiRUq3X3M)
Another band I love so much. This version is full of sorrow, sung with a painful voice. Really makes you feel sorry for the poor Hattie and her children who were left orphaned.

---------
But my honorific mention goes to:

Never Shout Never - Blowin' in the Wind (https://youtu.be/227lNoGg5Vg?t=1m15s)
Maybe their version of the song is not the best, but it's lovely, and I'm emotionally attached to this band, who in fact started as a one-man project with Christofer Drew as the only member (but later he recruited friends of him to make a real band).
This band means a lot to me, and when I found that they covered a song of Bobby (my favorite singer-songwriter) I cried of happiness (It's real) :')

By the way, Christofer Drew (the vocalist) has said Bob Dylan was one of his biggest inspirations to start playing and writing music.

Great one!

I first thought of Link Wray's version of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue;
it's so vastly different it's more a remake than a cover; I love it primarily for the guitar
though it's really nice
https://youtu.be/9Ht68yS-SlI

He also did Girl Of the North Country
https://youtu.be/c_m4P0DnC_4

I'd say the best covers are either Johnny Rivers', Them's, or Jimi Hendrix's.

I forgot:
this is another superb cover:
Dion's version of Farewell
It's as great as any Dylan cover IMO.

I also like Joe and Eddie's version of Walking Down The Line though not as much as Dion's magnificent, perfect version of Farewell.

Not a fan of her by any stretch of the imagination, but Miley Cyrus's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" is lovely.

Had to pick Hendrix's "Watchtower" since you failed to include:

Jeff Buckley - Mama You Been on My Mind
The Animals - It's All Over Now, Baby Blue
