Generally most of the BLACK & WHITE "Bob Photo" covers do not work.

My least favorite cover is "LOVE & THEFT"
the grey scale zero contrast Photo is awful
-the red/black/white color scheme works throughout the packaging,
but it worked a whole lot better with the 1966 Bootleg release

---a close second: The recent BASEMENT TAPES cover...a major lost opportunity
---a slap in the face compared to the glorious 1975 cover

as for best (his first 9 LP's are classic
but WORLD GONE WRONG is my favorite
-a close second - the 1975 Basement Tapes

BTW---Empire Burlesque has a more interesting cover than many of Dylan's Albums and I like it
-------Christmas in the Heart has a very great cover....and it's still the only Dylan LP i do not own on vinyl

Not a big fan of the album covers. Best=I guess Highway 61. World Gone Wrong. Freewheelin'. Worst=Shot of Love, which always makes me think of Ron Jeremy.

You are right, Shot of Love has a terrible cover. But Ron Jeremy (you're talking about the Hedgehog, I suppose) never came to my mind when I looked at it. The back cover picture is really nice, though.

The cover of Infidels has always been one of my favorites.

I'm afraid I will never be able to look at that cover the same way ever again.

What's wrong with that? Other than that it's probably from a bit after the actual Basement period... it's in keeping with the theme of most of the other Bootleg Series covers.

Surely the worst?

So bad it was changed, thankfully.

I always liked the Street Legal photograph. Also the Desire one. TOOM has a nice cover.

Worst probably Shot of Love & Modern Times.

It is impossible to try to judge which is the best or worst album cover because it's all relative.

In fact, I would go as far as to say that it is all down to subjective relativity, and for that reason, cannot, per se, be judged.

Relativity, albeit, subjective relativity is infinite... infinite in a overtly paradoxical way, thus rendering it non-judgeable.

I find it hilarious that anyone believes that they have the power to pass judgement on a album cover.
Fair point, I did misname the post  , but in my original Post I asked for your favourite (and least favourite) cover, not the best cover.

Yes, I do understand exactly what you asked for in your original post. That is what prompted me to contribute to the thread. By asking folk for their best and worst album covers, it will cause arguements and upset as most posters will not base their suggestions on any structured analytical framework... per se, there will be no evidence to support their selection... no logical reasoning.

This happens all the time on this forum and I find it so annoying and upsetting... so called folk say this is great, that is great... and, most times they are wrong. They claim that such and such is their favourite, when in fact it is a poor choice.

People have to substantiate things that they say... you cannot say something is your favourite or least favourite without having concrete proof to back up the claim... that just makes everything paradoxically obtuse.

I guess that it is down to folk not thinking in an adroit, reasoned way... logical thought costs nothing but is a good measure of a persons intellect.

Best..... Desire, closely followed by Street-Legal ( I even remembered the hyphen  )
Worst...So many, but I would have to go for Dylan & the Dead
