The third line of the fifth stanza is really garbled.

After "They chirp and they chatter/What does it matter" is it:

"They lie and dine in their blood"
OR
"They're lying and dying in their blood"
OR
"They laugh and dine and never love"

I've seem all three of these on Internet lyric pages. Is there an official version?

I can't find any official lyrics. I hope the people over at bd.com can actually work on posting them soon. I've always heard the line as "lying and dying in their blood."

It is either

They're lying there, dying in their blood

or

They're lying, they're dying in their blood

This is surprising to me! Could have sworn it was, "They're lying and dying, they'll never learn."

But I guess 'blood' and 'mud' make more sense it terms of rhyme scheme.

Live it seems to be this, and studio the other (although obviously it's hard to say for sure).
