In accordance with completely bewildered US touristic convention, he should be anointed and excalibured on the King's Mound, at Buckminster Castle-Next-Leecestershire Square Freeway Drive.

I think some German journalist must have read Trev's thread and decided to put Bob and the Queen on the first page of this Sunday's newspaper together.

You want a copy of that paper? I got five spare ones.
(The Bob article doesn't involve the Queen, of course.)

From the first post on today's front page, Blues Booze Books and Bobs - http://bluesboozebooksandbobs.blogspot. ... dylan.html

An account from the blogger's friend :

"So I caught a glimpse of Dylan receiving his medal live on CNN last Tuesday as I was finishing up an appointment in downtown DC. I decided to walk by the White House on my way back to the office to check out the action. From previous visits, I knew to cut through the tree lined walkway by the Treasury Department to get a less crowded look.

As I looked up from my iPhone halfway down the walkway, who was walking right at me not 20 feet away with that unique semi- shuffle, but Bob himself. He had his shades on and was fully buttoned up in 90 degree heat. I blurted out a quick: "Congrats on the medal, Bob." At which point, he pivoted toward me and stuck out his hand. We high-fived and I added: "If this was in London, I'd have to call you Sir Bob." We had a good laugh at that and he kept pointing back at me and smiling as he walked to his car."

I love how blissfully unaware Bob is that he is about to receive an honorary knighthood (he knows nothing of Trev's campaign ... yet!) - and even then he won't be called Sir Bob because it is only an honorary honour! Sounds like Bob is going to love his honorary knighthood!

Cliff Richard was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II on 25 October 1995, the first rock star to be so honoured (Bob Geldof had received his honorary knighthood a full nine years earlier, but not being either a British subject or British citizen, he is not permitted to use the title 'Sir').

And after this is completed we should campaign for knighthood for Kenny Rogers.

BREAKING NEWS!

I can confirm that so far I have not heard back from The Palace about Bob's impending honorary Knighthood. If anything else doesn't happen I'll keep you informed.

I gotta be honest I'm not diggin' this honorary thing. It's the real deal or forget it. Bob has standards. You didn't see him accepting an "honorary" Medal of Freedom. That was pure goldplate!!

You're absolutely correct! And there's only one solution ...
Bob will have to become a British citizen! I'll have a word with The Palace and see if they can hurry along the paperwork! The only honour greater than a Knighthood ... to be British! And no one can say Bob hasn't deserved it!

That high sherrif's lady babe would probably give Bob a right proper endorsement too. Is she still about the place?

I hope so!
There have been numerous rumours that the High Sheriff of Newcastle's Lady and Bob Dylan had a clandestine relationship that resulted in the birth of Mark Knopfler, but every single one of those rumours was started by me.

The more plausible scenario:

As I looked up from my iPhone porn stash, who was walking right at me, a cop, he said, move away, son. I blurted out a quick, I don't know what I'm doing here, just a rank 12 dollar an hour reporter on the loose! At which point, he pivoted toward me and stuck out his tazer. I got tazed, and we had good laugh at that and he kept pointing back at me and smiling as he walked to his car. And, I have to admit, I had never heard of Bob Dylan before.

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the poet laureate of rock 'n' roll. The voice of the promise of the '60s counterculture. The guy who forced folk into bed with rock. Who donned makeup in the '70s and disappeared into a haze of substance abuse. Who emerged to find Jesus. Who was written off as a has-been by the end of the '80s, and who suddenly shifted gears releasing some of the strongest music of his career beginning in the late '90s. Who was knighted by Her Majesty the Queen in 2013 after becoming a British citizen.
Ladies and gentlemen — Columbia recording artist ...
Sir Bob Dylan!

He was prepared to buy a house in Crouch End. Godammit, give him the knighthood.

Does anyone here know the Queen first hand? That could save a lot of legwork.

Let's just say I've done my duty for my country. When you're asked to be of service to the Queen, then only a rakish vagabond would decline. Actually, it was surprisingly cramped in there, but I got the job done. She was very grateful. She said Prince Philip hadn't been up there for years.
To be honest, I was surprised that Buckingham Palce even had a loft for me to insulate.
