Says the man who made a " most overrated ModBod song " thread as if to prove all that he knows what other people don't . Go make a " most overrated modern Tom Waits song " pole at a Tom Waits forum or any other artist's forum for that matter and everybody will start swearing at you
Just because you like an artist doesn't mean you won't also find some of said artist's songs to be overrated by fellow fans of said artist. I think there are numerous overrated songs of Dylan's, songs that are consistently rated better than I would rate them, though I don't happen to think these three are among them. Well, if they're being called unapproachable masterpieces or some other hyperbolic thing then maybe they are, if they're just being called really good songs or something along those lines then no.

I agree with this. It's very, very seldom that I've heard anything but praise for MISSISSIPPI and COLD IRONS BOUND. I don't think these two are underrated. They seem to be consistently rated quite highly, and in my own opinion deservedly so. (Although I do think there are even better songs on TOOM than COLD IRONS.) I've heard a lot of contention over WMB#2 including some pretty negative opinions, so from among these three
it's got to be the most underrated, ie underrated more than the other two. I do not consider it an unapproachable masterpiece or any other hyperbolic thing, though. It's a decent song.
