In response to the Visions of Bob thread...

Difficult hypothetical perhaps but if Robert Zimmerman had never left Hibbing Minnesota and instead taken over his father's business and never become Bob Dylan, how cute, handsome, good looking, or hot would he look if you saw a photo of him?

In otherwords, how much of the attraction is due to stardom?

*Being a male, I can't say there's ever been much attraction to Bob other than for his works. But women on the other hand... I don't know. Been married a pretty long time and still don't understand how women think. (But that's another issue, isn't it?)

**Due to Bob's visibility over 50 plus years, there are photos at nearly every age so a person may submit three votes.

If your three votes are pretty diverse, please explain.

this is really not possible..... by the time you get to a certain age your face is showing your experience and your thoughts of a lifetime..... so if he had not done what he had done what would he have done, so what would he look like.....? :?

You're avoiding the question which is not permissible! He would have likely run a hardware store or perhaps been the high school math teacher or the librarian. What does it matter?!

Now answer the poll... would his appearance still appeal to you?

*Lily Rose, I never thought it would be you who would try to throw a monkey wrench into such an important poll. The fate of the free world depends on the results and you're wondering out loud, for everyone to hear, whether his career and experiences would have affected his looks. Perhaps it would help you sort through your thoughts if you listened to a lovely performance of Born In Time.

You're kidding, right, UP? :P

Everybody knows it's more about what makes up an entire person that makes them attractive to you. You can't subtract the stardom because it is part of who he is and I don't think that could have been altered, but that is definitely NOT the supreme factor. (Didn't we have the same discussion on this board somewhere the other day?) But I'll play and submit a few that are pretty undeniably lovely.......(three....schmeeeee....it can't be done)

Boy Bob (or polka dot girl as someone previously labeled him, but attractive nonetheless)

Man Bob (testosterone Jesus....also someone else's designation but.....spot on)

Mature Bob (elegant, aging gracefully)

Ok, I voted.... the bottom three..... if he is still the bad boy type that he is now..... and still bats those baby blue eyes ... and has a have decent line of charm..... that's it, I'm in!!!!

but I still think that what is inside shows on the outside.... sometimes not in the younger years, but for sure in the older days....

I pick "cute" three times (because you don't have "sparkly" and "brooding" in the list).

That sounds cool.

I had the neatest dream the other day. I was walking slowly, barefoot, wearing a sleeveless gown of light gauze, through a silver rain falling in diagonal lines across my body, my face joyfully upturned in the spray, arms outstretched, palms upright. The silver rain was so refreshing - it did not leave me wet, but gently cleansed. I think that idea must be heaven-sent. I hope there is such a rain in heaven.
