The album is pretty much the low point of Bob's career - with the possible exception of "Dylan & the Dead". Don't talk it up.

I feel like Under the Red Sky is lower than this, and i love Red Sky.

It's got some nice stuff, but Down In The Groove sets the bar pretty low, and then Dylan & The Dead limbos easily underneath.

Dylan and The Dead is easily the winner in the "nadir" contest for all releases in the man's long career, it seems unlikely that a serious challenger will emerge.

We're talking record releases here though, not shows, correct? Even so, are you including the Xmas album in your nadir calculations?

Xmas in the Heart is awesome, nowhere near the nadir of his career. :P

I think Dylan & The Dead is the only Dylan album that's short on both excellence and charm.

That's pretty much unlikely because everytime it comes to this combination of letters: "Down in ..." everybody is going to be part of the pack of pavlov's dogs and cannot but talk of the record's alleged bad quality, which a) is not so bad at all *) and b) has nothing to do with the TO's intention in the first place.

*) btw: grab yourself a copy of the "original" version of the album and you'll find a complete different listening experience.
@bennyboy: don't bother with your post, I don't read it anyway

Me too. But unless someone comes up with some more info then we're tapped out. Same thing happened with the Back Cover of Empire Burlesque discussion. So, please, go do some research and report back.

I'm talking about the record release Dylan and the Dead. It's far worse than Christmas in the Heart, which has some wonderful performances, unlike Dylan and the Dead.

I suppose we should be on topic so...

No, I have no idea where that picture came from.
