Tempest is like Oh, Mercy for this decade. Eventually, people will begin to pick apart Tempest and bash it for all manner of sins that didn't seem apparent when it came out and everyone was raving over it. While Oh, Mercy will sneak it's way back to recognition as among the richer albums in his catalog, which it is.

. . . or you can just appreciate both as really great albums :D

Best of the 80s! By quite a ways. There is still a hole where Dignity should have been. But it's a wonderful record nonetheless.

anybody have the original vinyl release of this? I have the 4menwbeards and not so happy with it. I passed the original up in a record store once, and i'm wondering if i should never miss that opportunity again...

I have the original vinyl and it sounds fantastic! To me it's a great album, in the lower part of my "top 10" of favorite Bob albums. I was in my early 20's at the time so I was very happy upon first listen (on the day of release) after the previous few uneven releases.

Listening to Political World right now - and it's totally a rocking song - should bring this back to the NET as an opener

The original vinyl sounds great. And not too hard to find on the cheap, even.
