LJ, what are your feelings about the NET? and if you don't like the NET why do you come here at all?

Why not ask Untrodden Path if he can't stand 1960s-1970s Dylan why HE comes here?

I mean, man.... stop picking on ME.

[& I feel it's plodding country blues shuffle crapola]

sensitive. I don't ask UP 'cause I'm not so fascinated with him as I am with you.

Odd. I'm hardly the only NET detractor here (there's a bunch of us, we meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month, drink, play bad NET Youtube videos and throw dried fruit at the screen (I mean, it's somebody's house). Recently we started stockpiling fertilizer as we may have to blast.

Untrodden path is more unique as I don't think there's anyone else here who disparages the first 2 decades of Dylan's recordings.

Don't have to; it'll all be destroyed in the explosion.

Untrodden path is unique for his sense of humour.
He takes his adoration for the Never Ending Tour to such a climax that it's deep adoration and pure cynism at the same time.

He won't attack you with the conventional
'IFYOUDONTLIKEBOBDYLANWHYDOYOUTROLLINHEREYOUMOTHAFUCKINPIECEOFPISS' and he doesn't start the cheap arguments - 'The music is brilliant - it's just that the venue sucked and the noise of the fans sucks and the recording device sucks and the MP3-format sucks and YouTube sucks ( ), but man am I having a blast to hear Our Man pump the gears like that! No, he will gracefully misunderstand our criticism and give us a return that's at least a good joke!

Just curious: Is all this fuss solely regarding videos? Or audio as well?

Isn't that something that's already longer going on.
I know that if you look for 'Lonely woman' by Ornette Coleman, you'll find a video by someone who had the intention of setting up a nice series of jazz classics. But the first notification you'll get when the video starts is 'audio disabled' and all you'll get is a silent movie consisting of some Ornette Coleman pictures.

Interesting stuff, no doubt, but I was simply wondering if all the talk is about videos - a la youtube - or if other, more expansive projects such as the A-Z may be under fire as well.

Yeah it was Web Sheriff that got me too.

If I post it somewhere else can they make you take it down?

silencing Ornette is criminal in itself.

I received an email from web sheriffs last week, they asked me to remove the Christmas In The Heart preview + another song from the album that I had on my youtube channel.

Web Sheriff desimated the presence of unauthorised Van Morrison material on the internet. Following the removal of video material, they followed through with the removal of Van Morrison torrents on DIME, HUNGERCITY, ZOMB et al, the removal of mp3s from people's personal blogs and contributed to the closure of one of the best Van Morrison websites.

I'm not sure they had much success with Pirate Bay, but Pirate Bay have shown that they can look after themselves.

Now of course, to what extent the Web Sheriff is involved or will be further involved is not quite clear yet. It may very well be that whoever hired the Web Sheriff, whether it's Columbia or Dylan's management is just concerned with streaming video content and that will be that.

It may, however, go on to extend much further. We'll just have to wait and see.

There's no official dog park near where I live. There's a park across the way and a few people started meeting up early on Saturday mornings and letting their dogs off the leash. Over the next 16-24 months or so a few more people came, then a few more, it started a bit later and went on a bit longer; Sunday mornings were added. Eventually people who also came to the park but either weren't fond of dogs or had dogs that they walked on a leash complained. finally park rangers started showing up and handing out $50 tickets and the whole thing kinda stopped. About 8 months later a few people started coming back and, etc., etc., etc.

The world inhales and the world exhales. On every level.

The house my Aunt & Uncle lived in in the 50s was a block from where the mayor lived. In the 60s and 70s the neighborhood fell apart, became a war zone of drugs and violent crime and slowly became gentrified in the 90s and now their old house, which might have sold for $8,000 7 years ago, is now around $300,000.

The world inhales and the world exhales.

Stuff comes together, stuff falls apart, stuff comes together again, stuff falls apart again.

What's happening to music on the internet is nothing different.

I know, that's true, and very philosophical, but it gets very frustrating sometimes.

P.S. My comment about things getting frustrating probably has little to do with internet music, just the waxing and waning of life in general.

The Sheriff must be looking at digital fingerprints.

Is there a way to disguise that or would that be illegal?

Stop doing illegal things. Then you have no need to disguise.
Or is it your looks?

Dude, the sheriff's been dead for decades.

It's the deputy you should be worried about.
