I've gone through interesting changes because of Dylan's music... Hearing my first Dylan album in '95, at age 43, I recognized right away that I'd found The Drummer I was seeking, that I was picking up the Sixties' vibration loud and clear...and I followed it here, to ER...and a home in the Dylan Room of heaven...where I was able to calm down, cool off and feed my mind... If I have any hero on the planet he's Bob Dylan. That's what I'd say to him. If...

Knowing his history with fans and his value of his privacy, I'd probably just say "thanks for all the great songs, man" and leave it at that.

I think if I ran into him on the street or something, I'd just say hello and keep walking. He probably just wants to be treated like a normal person.

I can't relate to many Americans, I don't really want to speak to him.

If he was English I'd ask him what football team he supports, OBVIOUSLY

I'd hope I could come up with a corny joke for his collection!

"hello, I'm a fan" then unless he wanted to keep it going , respect his privacy and move on.
Naturally there are lots of things I would like to say to him , but unless I was actually introduced to him by a mutual friend I would be going too far.

I would ask invite him around for dinner and to meet the wife. And if he wasn't up for that maybe we could go to a ball game sometime?

When Tony materialised, I'd go "So Tony, tell me, where do you think ultrahigh energy particles come from? And is a new theory of light and matter needed to explain what happens at these very high energies and temperatures?" I'm sure he'd be overflowing with ideas 8)

"Tony, mate, get George to turn left at the lights and park round the back, ignore this squealing banshee and the kid from Bournemouth asking for Street Legal tracks, get yourself through security and relax! Have a good show!"

I suspect words would fail me as I cling to his feet, crying tears of uncontrollable joy, at having met the masterful genius of the Never Ending Tour.

(Besides, when you're that close to a god, I think they can read your mind.) :D

He is the one person i would most like to meet.. and i really would like to spend a few hours with him.. not just one question. I would mainly ask him about some songs.. what they mean etc..and about politics and life in general.

I'd hit him with something REALLY profound:

Know the time?

Got a light?

I have a variation on this theme that came to me while reading a Paul Williams book in a public space. If you were in a hotel lobby or something reading a book about Bob Dylan and Bob came through and asked you (maybe with a grin) if it was a good book, what would you say?

I have longed for many years to ask Dylan why he chose to use the word 'satellite' in the lyrics of the song 'Where Are You Tonight?' from the album 'Street Legal'... in my opinion the unfortunate use of this word spoilt my enjoyment of the whole album... so, I would ask Bob why he deemed 'satellite' to be a suitable word in the context of the song as I have researched this particular lyric for twenty years and have still to come up with a reasonable and logical answer despite looking at the song on different levels... yet, it still remains a mystery to me... why, Bob, why?

I honestly don't know what I'd say to him.

"Hey, seen any good movies lately?" or "Does it bother you that some people refuse to respect the craft that goes into making a really awesome sandwich?"

I wouldn't ask about his work or even thank him. Lord knows he's had enough of that.
