i'd offer him some throat lozenges. and then i'd ramble on for about 10 minutes about my love for series of dreams and lecture him about leaving it and dignity off oh mercy.

and ask him what is the meaning of life? is there a god? what is heaven like? cuz he's dylan and he knows these things.

then i'd go off and smoke with him and we'd play cross the green mountain together.

would be fun times, for sure!!! 8)

I'd hit him with something REALLY profound:

Got a light?

I have a variation on this theme that came to me while reading a Paul Williams book in a public space. If you were in a hotel lobby or something reading a book about Bob Dylan and Bob came through and asked you (maybe with a grin) if it was a good book, what would you say?

__________

hmmm, what would I say, maybe: yeah, this is really good...must be a very interesting character, this *Bob Dylan*..:-)

I have longed for many years to ask Dylan why he chose to use the word 'satellite' in the lyrics of the song 'Where Are You Tonight?' from the album 'Street Legal'... in my opinion the unfortunate use of this word spoilt my enjoyment of the whole album... so, I would ask Bob why he deemed 'satellite' to be a suitable word in the context of the song as I have researched this particular lyric for twenty years and have still to come up with a reasonable and logical answer despite looking at the song on different levels... yet, it still remains a mystery to me... why, Bob, why?

2 reasons 1. It makes a rhyme
2. Satellites drift when they lose power.

What absolute nonsense... you are making that up just to try and substantiate your theory... I believe he should have sung "drifting... right outta sight" and not "drifting... like a satellite"... and I know from research that I have undertaken that everyone agrees that 'my' lyric is the better one... especially in context to the song... and, further more, emu-face... if I wanted to know what effing satellites did when they lost effing power I would become a member of the NASA internet forum... I am awaiting a full, farnk, and sincere apology because at the moment I am ragingly angry with your blatant disrespect towards a Senior Controller (me)... I am livid with unvented anger!

Oh man, "got a light" is my new favorite.

I would say "how do you do?"

or only "thank you."

It would be wrong to bother him with more than a few words.

I too care about Milkcow's needs... her happiness is of paramount importance and the world is less bright for her absence. I'm glad to see that you are thinking of her and would be willing to speak to Bob in such a manner just for her. See, you CAN be a gentleman, no matter what people say!

Would you dedicate It Ain't Me, Babe to my wife (at the next show)?

(Maybe she'll like it more hearing Bob sing it than she does when I sing it. She just doesn't find the romance in it...)
