I was with a friend who was working City Stages for the Bob show in 2003. We were in the VIP section...know what that got us? Free beer and the greatest view of the stage from 100 yards back with a huge tree in the way.

I've only been to three Bob shows (City Stages, Duluth GA '07, Dallas HOB '08) but we're going to Kansas City on Aug 28! I can't wait!!!

hey - I know that tree!!!! I was maybe ten feet from it. but now im screaming roll tide from desolation row!

You know she means Duluth, Georgia, right? I guess you do, since I don't think he played Duluth, Minne in 2007. It was not that good of a show, at least not for us. They screwed up our seats b/c they misprinted the stage set up. We paid for floor, got moved to farthest back of the arena, first row of lower tier. Got there in PLENTY of time, by the time they took aside, not telling us why our tix wouldn't scan and led us to these crapulous seats, Aamos Lee was already coming on. No apologies whatsoever. I was livid. Didn't fight it then b/c didn't want to miss Bob.

Girl in seat behind us started tapping me, telling me to sit down. I went Ape. Told her I'd paid for floor and I dance on the floor. She didn't care. Tried to get security guards to let me stand on floor below our seats. They were all jackasses.

Worse Bob concert experience I've had. Sent flaming letters to Live Nation and the Gwinnett Center. No replies, again, no apologies. I swear I'll never go back to that venue if all the original members dead and alive of The Band get together for a one-night reunion with Bob. Blondie? She went back there three months later to see Andy Roddick play in an exhibition match

Our Bob show did suck at the Gwinnet Center. Not to mention it took us over two hours to get out of ATL thanks to road construction

I couldn't pass up an opportunity to see Roddick in a neighboring state. I got second row seats AND got to meet John Isner!

Haha yeah, it was last year that I found out there was a Duluth in GA haha. I've heard the tape, its not the most excellent show, I was just excited because it was on Sept 22, which is my b'day, and nothing would be cooler then to go to a show on your b'day.
Sounds like a shitty time, but I can guarantee we wont have a repeat in KCMO :P

I think they were called THE WAIFS. That girl harmonica player was absolutely amazing...oh, and memory coming back, Nils Lofgren joined the stage and damn, he and Bob really synced on stage it was amazing. 2003, not 2005.

Nothing to be ashamed of there! I consider myself lucky when I've gotten to see more than one a year and you just knocked out six in a month!

I always saw him in town when he came around for a concert so I did not really feel I needed to be around all of the crazys when I could just see him on the street walkin around or go and smoke a joint in anyone of his many places he stayed at.

Let's see. I haven't been to too many shows.

Rochester, NY, 1975, Rolling Thunder Review. Highlight, the whole damn 4.5 hour show!!!!

San Francisco, Warfield Theater, 1979. I think it was show #8 of his 14 show stay there. Highlight, the whole rockin' gospel show! Testify!!!

Saratoga Performing Arts Center, 1986 (?), with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for his band. Highlights, To Ramona, and Lonesome Town

Dean Smith Center, Chapel Hill, NC, 1989 (?) G. E. Smith was the lead guitarist. Highlight, Barbara Allen (!!!)

Walnut Creek Amphitheater, Raleigh, NC, I don't remember the year. I was pissed because Dylan basically opened for Santana, the sound sucked, the seats sucked, the venue sucked. Highlight, John Brown

Koka Boothe Amphitheater, 2005, I think. Larry Campbell on guitar and cittern. Highlight, the weather. The show was solid. I had no expectations, so I wasn't disappointed.

But, my brother, Guy, saw him in the following places, and more:

The Cafe Wha, 1961
The Gaslight, 1961, 62
Gerde's Folk City, 1961, 62
Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs, 1962
The San Remo Cafe, 1962
The Alper home, Schenectady, NY, 1961, 62, 63, 64
OUR home, 1961, 62, 63, 64 (?)
Bob's W4th st. apartment, NYC. 1962. (He was staying with Bob and Suze)
Washingon Square, NYC, 1962
Newport Folk Festival, 1963, '64.
Benefit for the Caffe Lena, Schenectady (?), 1968 (?)

PLUS, walking sie by side on the streets of NYC, Saratoga Springs, and Schenectady, NY.

Lucky S.O.B.

I think my brother wins, over me.

Albert Hall '65
IOW '69
Earls Court (3) '78
Blackbushe
Earls Court '81 (3)
Wembley '84
Wembley Arena '87 (3)
St. Kilda, Melbourne' 93 ? (3)
Melbourne,Tennis centre, MTC Vic '97 (3)
Sydney '97 (1)
Melbourne TC 2002 ? (2)
Sydney 2002 (1)
Wembley Arena 2006 (1)
MTC 2007 (2)
Sydney 2007 (1)

27 in total. I'm not sure about the '02 and '97 dates. Could be a year out there.

Most amazing performance - a variety of the shows had something different to reccomend them. I actually really enjoyed Wembley '06.
In '65 you could hear a pin drop while he was singing followed by an ocean of applause.

I really liked the cover of a traditional song called 'The Female Rambling Sailor' - Melbourne'93. It inspired me to start playing the guitar, for some crazy reason.

Most unusual vocal; Wembley '87 with Van, Clapton and George Harrison on stage. Dylan sang the theme song from Exodus in a whole other voice. Stunning!

Let me help you out here -

St. Kilda, Melbourne' 93 ? (3) - that would be 1992 - six shows at the Palais Theatre
Melbourne,Tennis centre, MTC Vic '97 (3) - no tour downunder in 97, there were 3 shows in 1998 in Melbourne, but only 2 at the Tennis Centre and 1 at the Mercury Lounge, Crown Casino
Sydney '97 (1) - 1998? (again, no tour downunder in 97)
Melbourne TC 2002 ? (2) - no tour in 2002, in 2001 he played the Tennis Centre, in 2003 it was the Blues Festival outdoors
Sydney 2002 (1) - again, no tour in 2002, this could be 2001 in the park or 2003 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre

I was at all of the above and agree on Female Rambling Sailor being outstanding in 92.

Many thanks I was actually at the Mercury Lounge and the Blues festival. So I've been to 2 more shows than I originally recalled. You are correct about the dates and venues. Strange that I can recollect the old shows more clearly in terms of dates, I guess they were somehow more important, because you could imagine that each tour might be the last.

I recall an article by Donovan of all people in the Sunday Mail about a week before the show at Wembley stadium saying make sure you attend, he may never return. LOL.

The Mercury Lounge show was great, I particularly enjoyed 'Dark as a Dungeon" and a seering Highway '61.

Again thank you.
