 Post subject: Bob's Contract
PostPosted: Wed December 8th, 2004, 21:30 GMT
Might it be that Bob's seeming lack of exhuberance during this interview had to do with his contract? He was fulfilling his contractual obligations to Simon & Schuster/ Viacom. Isn't it the corporation that is the "master of this world" (the television show) as well as "the world we can't see"- the extended sphere of influence that the corporation has. just an idea

Chief Commander is what Bob said. I don't think Bob does anything Bod does not want to do.

Yeah it's possible, surely likely, that he was instructed to do the interview. However, he did a lot of these types of interviews in the past, and he never gave straight answers. So, I think the big question is, why did he actually participate in the interview?

It's probably no accident that the book was released coming in to the gift giving season. Undoubtedly, Mr. D. was under some kind of obligation to the publisher to aid in promoting the book. Of course they probably played him soft and let him do it on his terms. What better televised venue than 60 minutes? It's the most watched "news" show after all. What other options were there? Look how others books are pimped, the morning squawk shows, like Oprah, or Regis? Late nighters like Leno or Letterman? Or how about a 20 city personal apppearance book tour?--sitting at a table in Barnes&Noble signing away for love struck grandmas.

Also, remember, this is just volume one- If this one doesnt get properly pimped and promoted, what chance of selling do the following volumes have.
Yeah, whether Dylan wanted to do the interview or not-I think there was no question that he do it. It's good business-and Dylan is a good businessman, or he wouldnt be where he is today.

I agree with Dwarf.

Bob will certainly not do anything that Bob doesn't want to do. Nobody is going to tell him what to do...ever.

I think it all boils down to this being a good business decision and it is quite obvious that Bob is definitely a great businessman.

Wasn't it just plain fun to see Bob on primetime network TV?
I had beer and cheese during the show.
What gives with you guys anyway?
