I'm sensing a pattern Queen Ann... :D ... well i am with you on this one - just like Self Portrait (not like Dylan)
happy to share your sentiments that the album is excellent. i am confident 4/7's of the way through on my call....it seems as if we have distinction between us. we will see what the numbers tell us, to see which one is right

i think some of his best post-2000 vocals are demonstrated on side 2.
  <note the Christmas colors>

as for Hark - i love it, but only when others are in the room so i can see them wince, squirm, and excuse themselves.

^ yes, nice use of the Christmas-colored smilies, Troubadour.

I also like most of the songs on side 2 of this album....
esp. 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".. gulp!
... I'll probably be sorry that i admitted this > but the first time i heard
this album, it was so touching to hear Bob sing these
Christmas songs that i cried!

.... a pattern ??

during the first half of the first side, i was staring into the album cover and reflecting on my youth, tenderly. we had several ornaments in that design. my mother's favorite song has always been little drummer boy, so that one really gets me. especially the video. i may have cried there. i almost sent it out to all my friends, but i was unwilling to be mocked.

yes the pattern: i'm guessing you like bob's humorous side...please weigh in on the following:

^^Next Christmas you should go ahead and send your friends the Little Drummer video…
Who knows, maybe they'll like it, too.

8) You are so right… I think Bob’s sense of humor is hilarious and i love his funny
songs.... my two favorites are " Million Dollar Bash " and "Day of the Locusts".

:D -i kinda feel like a guinea pig...but here goes!

“Froggie Went a Courtin”
……very cute song...like it alot. I like that old folk-songy sound.

‘Man Gave Names to the Animals’….funny you should mention this song… last year I bought a few copies
of the kid’s book that was made from Bob’s song…..the book comes complete with a CD of this
song. I figured it would be a good way to get my nephew’s son and a friend’s kid endoctrinated
with Dylan. The kids love it! ….i like it, too....think it's a cute little song for kids.
 Here’s the book: http://www.amazon.com/Man-Gave-Names-Al ... 427&sr=1-1

Tweeter and the Monkey Man….. excellent song !

Wiggle wiggle…. Image
That is from Bob’s worst album…IMO.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game…. I remember hearing this on TTRH…. As a baseball fan, I LOVE THIS!
….but I wouldn’t consider it a ‘humorous song’. ??

…..this was fun ! …….thanks, Troub!
- after you've had a chance to score them, please let me know if my responses are
what you expected!

well, it's not flattering to be labeled a scientific experimenter either - i don't even wear glasses :) i do have a younger sister though, so i guess i've always been a bit of a probe.

i make it a point to get a dylan book from that series to every child that is born of a close friend/family member. i first got Forever young when it came out for my youngest nephew...and just recently got Blowin in the wind for my brother in law's first child. Man...Animals went to my best friends child, who really was into animals and dancing, so it was quite perfect. ('especially for his aetheist father). hopefully they will all give me the collection when it's my turn to get rolling...

if there was a thread for Emoticon of the Month, i would place that one there. :)

i think the humor is all in the phrasing. would love to see him actually deliver that at a ballpark.

you scored a perfect! it means you can appreciate bob in all of his dimensions. and you are not stifled by an orchestrating superego or sense of duty to musical elitism. from that i would conclude you are neither male or from England. and you may be a bruce fan! lol

So Troub, you really want us to listen to Christmas in the Heart in late March? I mean, really?!

Long story short, side 1.

Indeed, Christmas In the Heart is the most consistently beautiful album from side to side by any artist.

Christmas In the Heart is a year round album for me. It gets a spin at least once a month... its simply that good! :D

What they said. By far Dylan's best album of the past ten years, perhaps even the past fourteen (but not the past fifteen). Contrary to what public opinion seems to be, side one is perfection, both in terms of singing and planning, either by Dylan or the Troubadour, who put these sides together. The arc that begins with Must be Santa Claus ends perfectly with Adeste Fideles in a way that's only matched by BOTT (TUIB -> Buckets). And I'm not ONLY joking here.

Great! That's what I was aiming for. So now I got to clear the mantlepiece of stockings to make room for the prize. Damn.
