I always wondered why he was holding a bass in that shot.

Has he ever laid down a bass track for one of his albums?

Is not a bass guitar (for so it is called) ... per se ... a guitar? As well as ... if you wish ... a bass? Just asking. Do I hear a triple sheesh a-coming?

I remember an interview with, I think, Ron Wood, where he mentions Bob playing bass, and the interviewer asks, "Can he play bass?" To which Ron replied: "He tries his hand!"

It's like when Ali was asked about his golf game: "I'm the best! I just haven't played yet."

Similarly, Dylan would be the greatest bass player if he wanted to be.

I love this... I was going to post in the other thread about the best guitar solos, but I figured I would just let them enjoy what they like. But you hit it LJ!!!!!

too many to mention…
(are there any solos with more than two (or three) notes? (and with less than two minutes to find them on his guitar…)

What a great thread

Why is it fashionable on this site to slate Dylan so much?

I'm not talking about criticism, I'm cool with that, but sometimes threads like this seem a bit childish. Lets list the things we hate about Dylan

And I'm not someone who would defend his guitar playing, I just find it odd that it seems to be almost a badge of honour on here to slate Dylan as mush as possible...

weird...

I think you will find those that tend to take the piss the most have been using this and other boards for so long now that its second nature to raise these types of threads, its a kind of post a thread sit back and watch all the bitching and moaning,i dont think any real malice is meant by it,i think its a way of raising a laugh in a kind of strange way,at least thats how i see it.

Since Dylan is the worst lead guitar player in the universe -- find someone worse, I triple dog dare you -- Tumor Boy's thread on Dylan's awesome God-like lead guitar skills is just.... I didn't want to reply to it because, left alone, it will quickly sink out of sight. And I might have ignored it entirely if I hadn't found this awesome "make your own motivational poster" website.

That's my answer.

lj is just trying to be funny that's all. I think this was a "response" to Bob's best guitar solos. I happen to think there are none and was going to post that and laughter in that thread... but then I didn't want to spoil their nice thread on what they believed was really great... so LJ put this here, and it is quite funny. Because of it, I could post my feelings on his playing in an appropriate thread without hurting the people who originated the first one.
By all means, I don't hate Bob or stuff he does or whatever. I also don't love everything he does either. I do, however think his guitar leads are just atrocious and someone needs to pull the plug from his guitar when he does them. I think Bob makes a fool out of himself when he plays his so called leads. For that reason alone I think this thread is hilarious.

That is a funny website, I'll give you that

But LJ, surely you're above threads like this

And again, I have to state for the record, I'm not defending Dylan's guitar skills...

He's better with the acoustic than electric...

He's a great acoustic player, best in a solo setting, very idiosyncratic. But playing lead in a group setting? Jeeze-O-man does he suck!

And I can't rise above it because I can't stop doing this....

Longy is NOT above threads like this sir, and I resent the allegation! This is exactly on his level! I think you owe him an apology for implying that he's above this!
