He looks unconfortable when he's on a stage and does not own it. And he has a hard time up to this day and his age to sit/stand still. The mimic and body wants to move. At the interview he had a pencil or something similar in his hand, to play with.

I so sympathize....

Proves my point that higher education of the classroom-confined kind just could never have been his thing.

I have a serious question... would he still receive his honorary doctorate if he didn't attend the ceremony?

Yes, good question! But maybe he really wanted to be there? Really liked that his work was so esteemed?

Anyway, I am hyperactive and meetings where I am at the listening end make me so sleepy that I just want to lie down on the floor. I find that knitting helps me concentrate though. But imagine Bob knitting while Obama explains to the world why he's gonna get the freedom medal...

I thought so but I wasn't sure.... okay just to say a few things
I had a student once that used to play with a rubics cube in his hand to help in pay attention in class... and it worked...so I completely understand what you are saying

However

my student never had that look of disdain for being there even if he didn't have his cube... If Bob wanted to be there, I think professionally he should have had a less cynical look on his face throughout the ceremony. Fake it if he had to... he chose to be there. He didn't have a cynical look at the other honorary doctorate ceremony or at the presidential thing or even at the kennedy center honors... looking uncomfortable is one thing... and that he did at all of them... looking miserable is another... here he looks miserable...

troub... that is very possible about your ebay hypothesis... just sayin'

He doesn't look miserable here to me. I don't get that.

That's not the look he gave me. He looked outright pissed. No question in my mind.

I don't think that's entirely fair Milk. I mean there's no doubt he looks miserable but as someone said his facial structure and age account for a good bit of that. I don't think he can be expected to sit there for however long it was with a constant smile. Maybe his mind was wondering and he was thinking about that night's mirror placement.

The photo I was referencing (about intently listening) was the one in your previous post.

I know...well, I think I know... the one jim just quoted you were talking about... yes... then I posted the other in my reply back to you... just as another image to post...

and jim, I agree. however... look at the photo shoot of all his other award ceremonies... and look at these... at least in the others there are many that are just a blank face... no expression... just about all of these show misery...

I even have some from the st andrews ceremony that weren't professionally taken... he looked miserable in those too

it's my opinion he looked miserable at this ceremony. I don't want any of you to change what you think... however, I feel what I feel.

Maybe he was miserable or tired. Miserable is a funny word for this. At most he looks bored. He doesn't look sick - which is what I think of when I read "miserable".
