Looks like the official announcement has now been made. This is from the Castle Galleries website:

"The Beaten Path, the much anticipated new collection by cultural icon Bob Dylan, will be released world-wide on Saturday 5th November.

Consisting of fifteen hand-signed limited edition graphics The Beaten Path represents the next step in Bob Dylan's artistic journey, and sees him turning his attention to the American landscape.

His first major programme since The Drawn Blank Series began in 2008, The Beaten Path is Dylan's celebration of the American landscape, and his own path well-travelled throughout. Suffused with Americana and awash with nostalgia, it is simultaneously a nod to bygone eras, reflective of present day and a credible projection of those landscapes in years to come. Furthermore, this collection carries the incomparable prestige of a foreword written by Bob Dylan himself.

The collection launches world-wide on Saturday 5th November. We anticipate an extremely high level of demand for this collection, so please register your interest below if you’d like to find out more."

An email from Castle also included the following: "We will also be unveiling the pieces here in the gallery on the 5th"....grave

The embargo on the works is slowly coming to an end! Endless Highway is the one piece in this new series, in my opinion, that most resembles the Drawn Blank Series. The other works are definitely less impressionistic. Endless Highway is also quite large, making it much more expensive, but I still bet that it will sell out fairly quickly....grave

The scenery looks a lot like the stretch of road leading up to the James Dean crash site in California, looking in Dean's direction, going west on Antelope Road (California State Route 46, former Route 466), heading towards the intersection with California State Route 41, where the crash occured. The rise in the road is not as pronounced in reality as depicted in the painting, but it is there. The hills in the distance and the sun going down behind them look very much like the valley of the crash site in the late afternoon/early evening, the time of the collision.

It seems the Castle Gallery will handle the marketing of the Beaten Path prints while the original works of art will be shown at the Halcyon Gallery in London:

"Halcyon Gallery presents a major exhibition of new works by Bob Dylan from 5 November – 11 December. The Beaten Path opens to the public on 5 November and features a wide collection of drawings, watercolours and acrylic works on canvas which depict the artist’s view of American landscapes and urban scenes. For more information, please call 020 7100 7144 or email bobdylan@halcyongallery.com"

Interesting that some of the titles mentioned in that article are not on the list of works to be for sale in this first release. Not sure if more than the 15 for sale will be shown at the exhibit; if you are lucky enough to attend, let us know....grave

The Halcyon press release says the "Beaten Path" show will consist of "a wide collection of drawings, watercolours and acrylic works on canvas", so the 15 "Beaten Path" prints on sale through the Castle Gallery seem to be selection of images taken from a larger grouping of works. Much like the "Side Tracks" prints were a selection from the "Drawn Blank" series of paintings.

That makes sense. I'm assuming that the earlier Drawn Blank exhibitions included many images that were not in the initial release (perhaps some that have never been released for sale). It sounds like this might not be the only Beaten Path release. I wonder if there will be a book with all of the images in the series (as in the case of Drawn Blank and Brazil) so that we can start to hope for particular titles in future releases....grave

One of the new paintings is called "Classic Car Show, Cleveland, Ohio" - but the actual location is on Route 66 in Seligman, Arizona.

Interesting...wonder what is behind the switch. Perhaps I shouldn't plan that trip to New York quite yet to find the exact locations of the works with NYC titles....grave

Didn't Bob fantasize once about selling live albums with imaginary dates & locations? It's probably just for fun.

I googled Bandera, Texas which is the title of the print I have recently bought. The place apparently is known as the 'Cowboy Capital of the World'. I found locations which resembled Dylan's picture but the 'Woody's BBQ' joint depicted does not exist, it's the name of a restaurant chain all of which are located further east! It's a fun picture though, a night scene with a dark blue sky and a nice bright street lamp in the middle.

Great...thanks for the link! I suppose some of the 200+ works are the original sketches (if I saw that correctly) and maybe an iron work or two. But it sure looks/sounds like there are quite a few titles in the Beaten Path series, so I bet we'll see many future releases beyond these first 15....grave

Three photos in varying quality, but all of one and the same painting.

Had a closer look at the images and yes, The Telegraph and The State are the same. However, the image in the Castle Galley magazine is differently coloured. There is another variant on this painting in the 3D gallery tour (2 versions are shown, one of which matches the images in The Telegraph and The State) included in the link below:

http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/2016/ ... lan-paints

So, at least 3 versions of Endless Highway.

Several of the paintings are based on classic film noir. There are at least two that use images from Touch of Evil. Others use images from The Crimson Kimono, The Set-Up and Lolita.
