I enjoyed going to the exhibition yesterday and took a bunch of photos that I have uploaded to flickr.

Thanks, MisterClive. It looks like there are a few different paintings added to this exhibition, or am I mistaken?

I like the picture of Bob from his studio in the eighties and also the more current picture from The 2011 Grammys.

Thanks, always good to see them again. :)

@raging: All these were in Milan when I went to see the New Orleans Series last year. Not sure if photos of them all were posted online, though.

Thanks, JP. That's probably it, I just didn't see them all. I wish one of these exhibits would come to the US. Paintings or gates, preferably, :D

Maybe I should note that there was a section with the Face Value portraits, which has been exhibited in London. I didn't photograph those. And among the paintings in the New Orleans Series I didn't notice any that I hadn't already seen online from the exhibition in Milano.

I love this one - they need to publish a book of these.

I agree. At the exhibition they only had a book with the Face Value portraits. It seemed to me to be leftovers from the exhibition in London. Too bad.

In the painting you like I noticed some interesting use of color that I liked so I took a few close ups as you can see. Since I saw the first exhibition in Copenhagen I have gradually come to understand how skilled he is with color. It also comes across in some of the darker paintings where the use of color is more subtle.

I was personally drawn towards this one:

Thanks. I hadn't seen these. Very erotical!
I like them....Love the gangsterishness and sepia-tone of these.

Definitely.
For those really interested, it is well worth searching out the vintage postcards and brochures of New Orleans on ebay.

I absolutely love "Dance Hall"! How the sight spirals into the distance, with the three couples first kissing, then walking side by side and far in the future standing at a distance with the man looking the other way... And how the man in the foreground, which is a very good portrait in itself, mirrors the spiraling motion and the angle of the entrance with his arm... I'd love to have a good print of it.

It seems none has been sold, maybe they where not meant to? I wonder what the prices would be. Maybe they hand in Mr. Dylans snooker room or home cinema, they would look very good in a place like that.

Thanks a lot. Some of your photos are better quality than the ones circulating from the Milan exhibition.

Is there a catalog of the New Orleans paintings (there was none when the paintings were shown in Milan)?

I contacted the museum about it, they only have one for Face Value.

It's strange that they have not done a catalog of those paintings. At least we now have MisterClive's photos, which are probably the best photos of those paintings so far. The only painting missing from MisterClive's shots is "Garden District".

Weird indeed, esp since there are so many catalogues of his other art shows. I wonder if there's a specific reason not to have one of these paintings.
