I've always felt like the Beatles were influenced a lot by Dylan but Dylan maybe not so much by them. I think he liked a lot of their stuff and respected them as contemporaries but I never got the feeling he was influenced by them.

In one of the early Dylan books (or mag articles), I forget which one (may have been Toby Thompson's), Dylan's mother, Beatty Zimmerman, is quoted as saying (paraphrasing)...."Bob loved (or idolized) The Beatles".

Dylan : "My first pop hero was Johnny Ray. I saw him late '78. I think he was playing club lounges. People forget how good he was."

I think the rolling stones must have been a big influence in going electric with a band

The Beatles influenced him more than the Stones to go electric.

Beatles, Animals, Byrds... Everyone was moving that way.

I doubt you could single out the Stones as having influenced Dylan in any one regard, ever.

A lot of his lyrics are influenced by Edgar Allen Poe and William Blake.
