The gray text makes the forum harder to read.

I like it!
So far it's nice and fast.

Comments -
1) The text for the sections titles and the thread titles doesn't look good on my screen. Some of the letters run together and it's a little hard to read. A regular font would feel better on the eyes. Does it look that way to other people, or is it just me?

2)I wonder if there's a way to make a division between the stickies and the threads. Like a dark line or something. My eyes keep landing on the stickies and it would be good to have a visual cue to separate them from the threads.

3) Is there a way to post embedded youtube videos?

Regarding item 1, this is also because the thread titles are now in gray- light gray for unread threads and dark gray for threads that have been clicked on. Gray on orangey brown and yellow is not a good combination. But the light gray for the unread threads is particularly hard to read, and the font choice doesn't help. If the site owners are keen on having the post text also be gray, I would think a darker shade would be better. They might also consider black text, which has been used for many centuries.

Regarding 3, yes I agree there should be a video embedding feature, a standard part of most forums these days.

We''ll look into the color choices and see what can be done. Thing is, we started with a given set of colors, and tried changing as much as possible into what people were used to. But there are many more settings to tweak.

Observing the forum speed from Norway, it was nice and snappy all day yesterday, but now when it's morning in Europe and late night in the US, it's just as slow as before the upgrade. I will observe and take notes all day today before deciding what further action to take.

Here are my stats (I will update this post):
CEST is Central European Summer Time
sec is how long it takes to load the server stats page

No, it's not just you. It seems harder to read. I also agree about not liking the use of grey, which I think is also making things harder to read.

Otherwise, fine with everything and thanks again, Karl Erik and daughter.

Could the Header text (except for the title) be made bigger?

Board Index >> Off Topic >> Off Topic

Board Index >> Off Topic >> Off Topic Okay, not THAT big.

Overall, very clean and crisp.

For some reason I keep accidentally clicking "view unanswered posts" instead.

Now the thread titles are easier to read, but now the read and unread thread colors are too similar, as one is dark gray and one is black. To easily distinguish between read and unread threads, one should be a more different color than the other. You might make read threads dark-reddish or brownish, if you want something that wouldn't clash with the current forum color scheme.

I say they should flash technicolor.

what's the little red exclamation mark (report posts) for? it's kinda scarey, like communist reports or something.

otherwise, this looks like it's going to be fun! thanks KE! 8)

Thank You for giving "Political World" it's own section !
Perhaps now, Off Topic, won't be mucked up with political
rants & raves. They can fight it out in their own "space".

Thank you KarlErik and KarlErik's daughter. Things are lookin' good.
I have two suggestions - for those of us who have trouble seeing, black print on a yellow background is the easiest to see. Also, the page numbers at the bottom right corner of each page used to have 2 colors - one for already read, the other for pages yet to be read. My view is all numbers in black. Maybe these things can be considered when next you perform an upgrade.
BUT I'M NOT COMPLAINING.
I'm very grateful for all you and your daughter have done.

Since the upgrade, I have been allowed to "Log on at each visit" which never was possible before, but I fear forthe loss of "Posts since your last visit" or "new posts" as they seem to be known. Also the search doesn't work for me very often. Any ideas, suggestions most welcome!

I have observed the slowdown for a couple of days now, and have decided we need more memory, so I ordered an extra GB RAM to be put into the server.

You may have noticed the site being down a while ago, and now it's up again with 3 GB of RAM.
This should improve performance.
