Place some very whiffy Stilton in a large man-size mousetrap and leave it lurking outside the off-topic section.

One man's troll is another man's treasure.

The little red box to the right. Or you can just add them to your foes list and you'll never see any posts by them.

I love all that cheesy advice! 8) Let me add this seven year old song about trolling:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bMLrA_0O5I
(It has a Beatles shout-out, so technically a discussion about whether Bob listened to it before writing Roll On, John is justifiable  )

We weed out the "posers" with our questionnaire.

Answer me these questions three:

1) What... is your name?
2) What... is your quest?
3) What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Answer these questions properly and we'll know how much of a Real Fantm you are.

all of that is good stuff,
thanks for all the advice,
i dig anonymity and even trolls sometimes too,
but this is a tricky situation,
he's not a troll, per se,
he's too cowardly and without enough originality
to be a real troll,
he's a lurker who trolls dylan sites for victims,
he wouldn't post anything,
but reaches out in private messages,
he's using a chick's username,
he's a predator who means nothing but harm,
it's more my style to just say
what's what,
but i gather from your responses that
a more subtle approach is preferred,
hopefully my warning of exposure
will frighten the little imp into hiding,
but be aware that
there is a dude using a chick's name
who is not a woman or a child,
and if you follow
through a hole in the wall
you'll see the screws breaking loose,
the devil pounding on tin

If you think it's serious problem, PM one of the moderators. They're all good people and will know the best course of action.

^ If they are chained to the skyway the load would be spread along the whole length of the migration route.
Maybe nightingales have a workaround

Walk me through this process. I've just received an abusive pm from Little Maggie (to which I have responded in kind) and I

now think it would be better for both parties if our respective posts were screened from each other. Where is this little red button

you refer to?

The red ! is for posts. Go to your User Control Panel. Click Friends or Foes. Click Manage Foes. Add whomever you want. Hit submit.

Bingo, no more posts or messages.

(BTW, your interpretation of 'abusive' might be different than a moderators. That's why I'd use the Foe feature and move on.)
