Post subject:  Smilies

I am now resigned to living with the 6-smilie-limit that ER has imposed.
But i would like to use some new smilies from time to time. 8)

here is a website with some nice smilies, but i can't get them to work when i try
to copy one to ER....the instructions on the website seem perfectly straightforward,
but the smilie won't 'copy' when i try to right click on 'paste' ??????????...Help ???

Fannie, go to the site and look on the left side of the page....Go to "Smilie Categories"...
pull down that menu and go to 'FOOD and Drink" and you will see the popcorn smilie that
you like, just right click on it and then go to 'properties' to get the Url address.
let me know if you have any trouble..!

I know nothing about Macs. When I house sit for my daughter I have to use hers and not only can I not right lick on photos and other things I would like to copy or save, there are no word processing abilities. However, I know saving pictures and obtaining urls is possible cause my granddaughter does it, showed me how to do it once, quickly, teenagers, always in such a rush, but i have forgotten.

Fanny, do you have any word pad or type pad programs on your Mac, and are they standard Mac come alongs or do you have to install software. Is Microsoft Office compatible with Macs? Seems like it would be a conflict of interest between Jobs and Gates. I wish we could get a better assortment of smilies on ER.

A small word processing program came with my mac (which is 6 years old), but it is strictly for simple letters or lists. If I want a more advanced word processing program, I go to Google Documents, which is free. You can by a microsoft suite of office programs for mac, but I never bothered, since I use my computer for music, video, photos, internet only. I do love my mac, tho. Easiest computer I've ever used and so reliable. At six years, this one is about at its lifespan. I hope to replace it with another imac this year, if the money is there.

Leo, if you see a photo, say from a website, that you want to save, you just drag it to the iphoto icon in the dock. done.

Thanks for the tips. I'll be house sitting again soon and my laptop can't get a connection at my daughter's house. I hope you will be able to get your imac. My laptop is slow as Moses, it needs a battery, I can only use it plugged in and it's got all kinds of "old age" problems.
