Expecting Rain

Hostgator says the RAM in the old server was getting unreliable, and instead of just switching RAM, they recommended moving up to a newer server. Makes sense, as the old one has been running for five years, and just think of the changes that have been made in computers and phones over the last five years!

I have placed an order for a new Dedicated server, up from Basic plan with 3GB RAM and a 10mbit network port to a Standard server with 4GB RAM and 100mbit network port. The price goes up from $174 to $219 a month. More here: http://www.hostgator.com/dedicated

IMPORTANT: Copying of files from the old to the new server is now in progress. All changes made on the old server from now on are not sure to appear on the new server when we switch to it. So, posts made in the discussion forums from now on until the switch has been made may not be there when we open the forums on the new server.

So, if you have some golden words and want them preserved for posterity, either hold your horses or make a copy that you can post later if neccessary.

New info on the move will be posted here.

The old server was down again from around 1500 CEST to 2120 CEST. They say it has serious errors and won't live much longer. Good thing the new one is on its way.
