Or does anybody else think the band must be just SO BORED by now !

They looked it in London UK, how they must be feeling in London Ontario !

Roll on the end of the Tour and it won't feel so much like Groundhog Day.

Love the Guy. he's a Genius saw all shows in London since '97 but Jeez hope he starts to change it up a little or give it a break for a while.

Its dynamik, give and take situation, IF you are bored, they are too. IF you give them your love, sing, dance, they Will do that extra solo and rare performance and that magic night is born.

I'm not sold on the idea that dancing and enjoying the show could bring out a rare performance at all

Don't most professional musical acts play the same songs over and over and over again? Some for decades upon decades?

The band is stellar and play to the cheap seats every night. The dynamics and nuances are always there if you know where to listen, and Yes the audience can elevate the music, but not if you aren't truly listening and aren't there for the music. I understand the craving for variety, but maybe better to play a musically perfect show than experiment with a variety of songs. Most bands play a relatively static playlist on tour. It's not uncommon. Bands with a huge travelling entourage of fans like The Grateful Dead don't really exist anymore. Bob Dylan is not a jam band. If you follow Bob around like a jam band try sitting in different places, and talking to the locals, rake in the scenery a little...maybe you'll experience different things. And definitely dance and shout. :)

"Bob Dylan is not a jam band."

I like that part.

He got pretty jammy in the mid 90's. I'm glad those days are over.

I'd have a blast if I was part of Bob Dylan's band. I'm sure there are plenty of musicians who would kill to be in Bob's band

It's just a job, you know. Not sure too many people would want to be on the road that much, esp as part of a misguided Sinatra tribute act.

the band & Bob were smiling & laughing at the shows I was at last month

That old black magic is super live

Being on the road in Bob Dylan's band sounds like a pretty damn good way to make a living if you ask me. Besides most towns have Whole Foods, workout rooms and pillow top matreases with crisp duvet covers and decent ventilation systems. Lol Those classic songs were nailed with a golden hammer by Sinatrra, but Bob does them impeccably. He's singing his ass off. Sure there a few Id love to hear, but what's the point in having expectations when you could really just be having fun instead.

No it's certainly not just you. I was at four shows for the last European tour and I have to say I'd seriously have to think twice about going to multiple shows again unless the format changed. To start with it would be nice if more standing venues were included, that makes a huge difference. The static set would have to include a few more changes, especially when he does a residency somewhere like the London Palladium and lastly he would have to reduce the amount of inclusions of American Songbook material. Two would easily be enough for me per show, seven (that's what we got in Europe - 33% of the set!) is overkill - especially when I'm not the slightest bit interested in Triplicate.

I don't think they look bored at all - particularly when u see them close up - and they are fantastic imho. A more interesting question to me is should they be bored? I'm not a musician (and certainly not a musician playing with someone as iconic - not to mention as potentially difficult - as Bob is) so don't know how fast boredom kicks in playing a mostly static set.

That's my experience, at the Palladium and Nottingham, great shows, band and Bob looked like they were having fun and loads of energy.

Can't wait for their return and will be seeing more shows

Hat on for both shows which is always a positive :D

.....and they are constantly tweaking the songs.....if you listen to shows from each tour....all along the way, there are songs that change a lil bit by a lil bit.....show by show.

You can tell how bored the boys are by the huge turnover in The Band......and I'm sure these untalented slobs couldnt get work anywhere else.

Earning a living as a musician often means going on the road, it very rarely means getting to experiment even as much as they still do every night. Many touring acts play everything EXACTLY the same each night, sometimes even down to the drum fills. There will certainly be an expectation that the guitar player reproduce the solo on the hit recording and so forth. Most musicians are there to do a job, not push themselves creatively. It's true at your locàl bowling alley and true on concert stages as well. Considering the pay and other perks of touring the world these guys probably feel pretty lucky, even if Dylan can be a demanding boss. It's a very hard business to even find work in these days.

I wonder where Winston is playing tonight...I think he did a Dylan tribute gig for awhile. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of good musicians for every job - and don't think these guys don't know it.
