Strange nobody compiled a 'Who's Going Where' listing for this tour?

I thought the same thing. Oh well, doesn't seem like there's as much of an outing at these shows as there was in the last European leg

Thank you, Bill, as ever.

As I look at it, I can't help but notice what a ballsy set it is. I hope some good recordings appear because I can't attend any of these in person. I'm sure the good people of Toronto got a spectacular show.

The thing that surprises me most is that Dylan's stuff and the American songbook material dovetails together surprisingly well from the perspective of putting a show together. It's almost like he is setting out to prove that to some extent there is nothing radically different between what he does and the older material. Its all music, more or less, and listeners get too hung up with labels.

Obviously no members at the show to supply a review, shame. I wonder what the official attendance was?

I was at the show! Bob and the band are continuing to give solid performances at all of these recent shows. For me, the best performances of this show were Tangled Up In Blue and the encores. The crowd was appreciative of the performance, although at any Toronto concert the audience is always somewhat reserved. Overall, I thought the Barrie and Oshawa shows had more energy, but Bob and the band were still in fine form. Bob continues to be hatless throughout all of these shows. He does have a hat with him and does hold it in his hand when the band line up on stage at the end of the show.

In terms of the venue, the set-up for the show at the Air Canada Centre was a bit of an overreach. The upper deck seating was closed, but even the lower deck seats had sections that were almost entirely empty. The floor seating was full. The stage was set up right at the back of the floor surface to maximize the seating space on the floor and the deck seating that could be used. The venue in Ottawa was also a large arena, but there the stage was placed a bit more towards the centre of the floor area. I think that's also how the show should have been set-up in Toronto. Part of the problem is that there are no mid-size venues in downtown Toronto. Either the concert is at the Air Canada Centre, a smaller 3,000 capacity venue, or a venue outside of the city.

Since Bob also played two other shows in the Greater Toronto Area (Barrie and Oshawa) this week, those shows likely reduced the number of people that would go to this show. If the Toronto show had been the only one in the area, some of the people that only went to the Barrie or Oshawa shows may have come into Toronto for this show. (But, that being said, I think it was good that Bob brought his show to other areas around Toronto, as opposed to just playing in the city.)

I don't know about that...
Well, maybe thinking about it some, the American fan base has definitely eroded.
A fickle group we are. Americans want it all and want it now.
And can't remember shit...except the highest media hype, or whatever the media/society reminds them to think....i.e., the sixties Bob.

The Sinatra tributes haven't helped.
Although I think this year is better than the last couple, show-wise.

The Euros dominate when it comes to actually being excited about Bob.
Well..., most of them.

There's a thread about that somewhere in General or Tours. I'll look for it.
Something to do while sitting delayed in an airport drinking shitty beer.

Another observation about America: It's an unwritten rule in most American airports to NOT serve decent beer. WTF???

If Bob ran a tour to the Far East like China or South Korea he would be bigger than Elvis or Michael Jackson. Which may be why he loves Japan so much and not China.

Anyway, a lot of the ER fan base came over from Prodigy, GEnie, CompuServe and rec.music.dylan. Most of those people are either dead or in nursing homes now.

Quote:
Bob Dylan showed signs of softening at his Air Canada Centre concert

Of course, the American folk music icon did so in his own uncompromising way, while also giving Toronto fans his most inclusive and dynamic set in years

BY VISH KHANNA

... He doesn't banter or, as was often the case in the recent past, even introduce his band any more.
There are no cheat sheets or prompters or other stage crutches.
It's a marvel, really, watching this 76-year-old man, with the swagger of the longest living punk rocker
this side of Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis, operate at the highest level.

He pops his head up from his baby grand piano like he's commanding a rumbling tank.
He takes centre stage with a golden mic on a straight stand.
He grins a bit, nodding slightly to us with a detached but apparent gratitude.
It's alluring, his presence. You can't look away.

Dylan has always communicated in his own unique manner and, on this tour,
on this night in Toronto, he and his dignified band brought us all into their weird world.
People are crazy, times are strange.
If it once seemed that Bob Dylan didn't care, well, things have changed.
