Bob Dylan & His Band come to Capitol Theatre!

Robert Allen Zimmerman grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota, listening to American folk, country, rhythm and blues, and early rock and roll music. In 1961 he became Bob Dylan, fused his great mentors Woody Guthrie and Little Richard, moved to Greenwich Village, and began to write the greatest songs of post-World War II American pop music. He moved from masterpieces of social commentary – "Masters of War," "With God On Our Side," "Blowin' in the Wind," "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" – to more personal surrealist epics that defined the angst and atmosphere of the 1960s – "Desolation Row," "Like a Rolling Stone," "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands." He became identified as the voice of his generation and for some years withdrew from the scene, only to return to the stage in what has been described as the "Never Ending Tour."

As brilliant a performer as ever, the recent years have seen him receive astonishing critical acknowledgement. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 1991, and in 1997 he received three Grammys for his resurgent album Time Out of Mind. He published a brilliantly received memoir, Chronicles Part I and won an Oscar for his song "Things Have Changed," the theme to the film Wonder Boys in 2000, performing the song at the ceremony by video from a sound stage in Australia. His most recent album, the 2006 Modern Times, was also well received. Finally, in April of this year he received an honorary Pulitzer Prize in music, the first rock musician to do so, for, said the judges, "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power."

Hope has been a dangerous thing for many years now.
As difficult as it is to dial back to zero expectations, it helps.

This is sadly true. I'd settle for Spirit being replaced with Tryin' To Get To Heaven (or literally anything) and That Old Black Magic being replaced with She Belongs To Me.

wiki:
In 1660, three settlers from Greenwidge (now Greenwich, Connecticut), Thomas Studwell, John Coe, and Peter Disbrow, arranged to buy Manursing Island and the land near the Byram River from the Mohegan Indians. The land that they bought is now Port Chester. The village was originally known as Saw Pit for the saw pits which were in use during the time. Logs were cut in holes in the ground for wood to be used for shipbuilding. The name of Sawpit was used for the first time in 1732. The village eventually outgrew this name and became Port Chester by incorporating as a village in 1868. When Port Chester was first incorporated, it was considered a major seaport.

In 1665, Sawpit was claimed by both New York and Connecticut. However, the land was given back to the New York Colony by Connecticut in 1683. This struggle over the ownership of Sawpit continued for almost 105 years. In 1788, the Legislature of New York ruled that Sawpit was a part of the town of Rye in New York.

Travel was considered dangerous in the early years of Sawpit as good roads were hard to find. The Boston Post Road, King Street, and Grace Church streets are some of the early migration paths in the Sawpit/Rye settlement. Other roads were usually dirt, which made transportation via water important.

The evidence points overwhelmingly to a live outing of Dirt Road Blues from 1997's Time Out Of Mind, if you ask me.

Quote:
Interviewer: "What about Bertha? Is it true she was a fan? An electrical fan?"

Robert Hunter: "No, this was after the fact. I don't know where that story ... I think they started calling this fan in the office that would run around and try and catch everyone and cut their fingers off. They started calling it Bertha. But no, this is not true. Bertha, I think, is probably some vaguer connotation of birth, death and reincarnation. Cycle of existences, some kind of such nonsense like that. I wouldn't be surprised, but then again, it might not be. I don't remember."

OK, so Hunter alludes, in this brief and fairly vague snippet of interview conversation, to an entirely different possibility. “Birth (‘Bertha’ pun), death, and reincarnation.”

Bob's gonna play at the PCNY,
Three nights he's gonna stay at the PCNY,
His voice gonna be clean, beforehand he'll have a good meal
He probably won't sing "How does it feel?"

It's a song be the Village People... and Bob lived in the Village... which is somewhat close, I guess... I have no idea. I'm just some German guy looking forward to the concert. XD
