Looks like I'll be one of these people at the Denver show trying to get rid of a second row ticket. Probably end up selling for way less than face value.

I'd think a second row seat at face value is a pretty easy sell, especially with places like ER to connect with big fans. Don't fear!

Hopefully he'll pull out one or two other tracks this fall!

The collection comes out on Friday November 3rd. He has a show in Akron, Ohio on Friday November 3rd. Of course, he won't acknowledge the collection in any manner, be it song selection or mention from the stage (as he does not speak). I wonder if it will be available for sale at the merchandise booth?

the last gig of the tour is on Nov. 16th, thanksgiving is on Nov 23… question answered? (pure speculation, of course)

btw: If anybody is going to complain about ticket prices. (s)he is right. I saw the Rolling Stones twice during the last seven days and I payed 65 Euros for each show (offical ticket, legally bought!) and I got No Filter Pit (i.e. GA right in front of stage) for both shows. Plus I witnesses the soundcheck in Hamburg for free (from a few hundred meters distance tough)

this info is correct but incomplete: regular No Filter Pit ranks from € 299 to something beyond € 1000 (for example € 1250 for No Filter Pit - Start Me Up Package in Munich),
you are lucky enough to get so called "lucky dip" tickets

Hopefully he'll pull out one or two other tracks this fall!

Usually he's quite dismissive of any Bootleg Series release when he's on the road. He could always make an exception to the rule and if he included some of these tracks in place of the American Songbook stuff I wouldn't protest too loudly. I remember seeing him once in London only a few days after Together Through Life was released and he made no reference to the new studio album whatsoever!

And then I saw the news about Mavis opening for them again... Why is it always in the USA? Why can't Mavis just come along for a European tour as well? This just ain't fair... I guess I'll have to use that Bob Dylan pen I got in the last tour to write an angry letter to someone (I just assume that's the reason why they were giving them away)

I agree, in Europe we hardly ever get a support. Of course when he was sharing the billing with Mark Knopfler the Dylan sets were quite a bit shorter

Right. And if I recall correctly, there were a lot of complaints about having an opening act.

Personally, I loved the Knopfler openers.

That's quite correct. Being a fan of both I really loved the show. However over on the Knopfler website fans who weren't keen on the prospect of seeing Bob Dylan in Bournemouth had started to make plans to meet up in local pubs after Mark had finished his set. At Hammersmith someone I knew was in no hurry to get to the gig early 'as I can do without Mark 'flipping' Knopfler! A mate of mine also went to the Hammersmith gig, he's a big Knopfler fan but said he found it difficult to recognise even the most popular songs in Dylan's set! Strange really, and I really enjoyed the numbers where they shared the stage together.

Well, there's a difference between support acts and special guests, I guess. These days, the acts that Dylan tours with in the US are more like special guests - established artists who are bound to attract more people, which is why there are there in the first place. They also need to be established acts because of the high ticket prices. Nobody would shell out 100 bucks to see (even an exciting) newcomer play for 30 minutes.

IIRC, last time Dylan toured with a newcomer act (Dawes) it was all Colleges and moderate ticket prices.

However, bringing in established special guests means you'll have to pay them to appear (for big shows, newcomer support acts - or their labels - often PAY for the chance to be on the tour) and since Dylan's ticket sales are still strong in Europe, there is no need to bring in other artists and split the profits.

The Knopfler thing clearly was designed to bring in more people and it worked financially, but sort of backfired in terms of audience response.

Considering that Dylan and his crew often travel on to the next city right after a show, I think they probably don't mind an early start. If you are done by 9.45pm, you're likely to be at the hotel in the next town by 1.00 am, but considerably later if you have an support act and a changover before your set. Having no changeover also results in less potential technical difficulties during your set.

Good News adding some shows at the end of the tour to stick with tradition.

Fitting to do the Beacon Run AND release Trouble No More in the same year we lost Gregg Allman!
Coincidence? Ya right.

sticking with tradition? It's rather unusual that he does shows after Thanksgiving, isn't it?

(and it's unusual not to end a tour in Bochum, of course)
