from http://kfyo.com/bob-dylan-lubbock-show-canceled/
According to the City of Lubbock,
the show, which was set to take place at the City Bank Auditorium,
was canceled “due to tour scheduling conflicts."

Interesting, wonder what the problem was. "Scheduling conflicts" are probably on the venues end right, as Bob wouldn't have scheduled a date he couldn't logistically play?

Exactly what happened in Rouen last year.

It seems to be their common excuse for whatever. Not selling enough tickets, probably.

Well, Lubbock sure is a good choice, if there ever was a place to give a miss.
(Lived there once a long time ago.)

A nice nod to Buddy Holly, no doubt!

There's also that song "Happiness is Lubbock, Texas in my Rear-view Mirror" by that am radio pop artist.

I remember when a concert in [small village in either Thüringen or Sachsen-Anhalt, forgot the exact name and place] was cancelled. After Braunschweig 2001. I learnt it from a phone call by the hotel I made some reservations with. They called me if the reservations were in connection with the Dylan gig. Yes. Oh, it does not take place. Do you know why?. The streets are too small for the heavy trucks. (haha)

Not sure why that is funny. For all we know, that WAS the reason for the cancellation. It was cancelled not long after tickets went on sale, at a point were it couldn't have been clear to anyone if enough tickets would be sold eventually.

As for Lubbock: Curious timing! They obviously didn't expect a promotional push after Desert Trip to boost ticket sales or maybe they had a deadline in the contract and they pay less of a penality for cancelling up to a certain point. Sad to see though that a show of less than 3,000 seats and with moderate ticket prices would have to be cancelled. Bob drawing powers are diminishing fast.

We're pretty taken by surprise today.
No rumors of Nobel Bob were picked up here. Stockholm is tight as a drum.
I wonder if Bob knew prior to the official announcement.
I'm guessing not.

Would love to know where he was and what he was doing when he heard the news.
At the blackjack table?

Another 3 shows with 3.
I Could've Told You, All or Nothing & Why Try To Change Me.

Meanwhile Nobel ceremony of December 10th will be coming soon enough.
Another speech or, one would at least expect a note, if not accepting in person.

Back up to 7 Sinatras at this point.
Will he tie this past Summer's 8 in these last two shows of the year?

Too bad we don't get a Dec 2016 Bob Nobel Show, but Spring '17 should work fine.
Maybe he'll work out a new list by then if we're lucky.

For posterity, as 2016 winds down and the Euro Spring '17 dates trickle out:

10 Dec 2016 (yesterday)
- Nobel Gala with Patti Smith's orchestrated version of 'Hard Rain'
- Dylan's ambassador-read Nobel Acceptance Speech publicized
- waiting to hear the rest of Bob's "obligations," possibly in April of 2017

All good.

20 Dec 2016
- Tony Bennett's 90th with a Bob road-recorded studio video coming soon

Recording Rumor
- Grasping at straws to believe Bob is recording in cahoots with Daniel Lanois right now.
- Please let's hope so

Looking forward to 2017!
