More Performers Added To Bob Dylan Tribute
JACKSON BROWNE, ALANIS MORISSETTE, AARON NEVILLE, AND BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN ADDED TO 2015 MUSICARES PERSON OF THE YEAR TRIBUTE CONCERT; FORMER PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER TO PRESENT AWARD TO BOB DYLAN

Los Angeles, USA - January 06, 2015 - GRAMMY winners Taj Mahal, Alanis Morissette, Aaron Neville, Bruce Springsteen, Susan Tedeschi, and Derek Trucks; and GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Jackson Browne are the latest performers added to the 2015 MusiCares Person of the Year tribute concert honoring Bob Dylan on Feb. 6 in Los Angeles. Former President and current 57th GRAMMY nominee Jimmy Carter will present Dylan with the MusiCares Person of the Year award.

Previously announced performers are GRAMMY winners Beck; the Black Keys; Crosby, Stills & Nash; Norah Jones; Tom Jones; Los Lobos; John Mellencamp; Willie Nelson; Bonnie Raitt; Eddie Vedder; Jack White; and Neil Young; as well as singer/songwriter John Doe. Three-time GRAMMY-winning producer and recent Emmy winner Don Was will be the evening's musical director.

Dylan is being honored as the 2015 MusiCares Person of the Year in recognition of his extraordinary creative accomplishments. Proceeds from the annual Person of the Year tribute — now in its 25th year — will provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.

The MusiCares Person of the Year tribute ceremony is one of the most prestigious events held during GRAMMY Week. The celebration culminates with the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards at Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 8. The telecast will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

awesome and exciting interview here (if not in depth)
indicates that Bob is involved in matching song choices with performers.
could be the best move of this ceremony yet.
Hope he shreds it Lukas Nelson Style.

That was a treat MerryLlama and super great news- Because even though each of the performers is very good, in their own way, thinking maybe Bob has ideas to put it together like a musical picture makes it a lot more interesting- Unless it's not him, but someone ughhh speaking "for" him trying to skew things a certain same-o blahblahblah way

That article didn't specify if she talked directly to him. I hope that's it, that she did talk to Bob himself...which would make that show SO exciting! Kind of like what some see as his music as theater art in his current shows.

Aaaaannnd then- that would put him in charge of spotlighting, as well as being spotlighted

Bob three-song closer: Forgetful Heart, Long and Wasted Years and Stay With Me. Then everyone comes back out and each artist gets two verses of Tempest.

That bit was unconfirmed, and will probably not take place. Instead Bob will sing the live debut of "Tin Angel", while three of the singers will act out the plot on stage. Willie Nelson has secured the role of the boss, and Neil Young will appear as old Henry Lee, while auditions are still ongoing for the part of the lady.

From Llama's link I see Don Was is musical director of this event. Wonderful news. This could sound as good as UTRS! It's been a long wait.

Can anyone confirm if Dylan is actually performing?

Post subject:  Re: MusiCares Bob Tribute - 6 Feb 2015 - LIVE SET LIST

That's the question Jal. I feel like I read somewhere that he was, but can't find it.
(and the Dylan, Inc. site doesn't mention it under either news or hype, which is actually kind of cool).

One can infer that he wouldn't snub Jimmy Carter since Bob is not on tour.

From Billboard last week:

Jimmy Carter to Present Bob Dylan With MusiCares Honor
By Associated Press & Billboard Staff | January 06, 2015

Former U.S. president Jimmy Carter will present Bob Dylan with the 2015 MusiCares Person of the Year honor next month in Los Angeles.

The Recording Academy announced Tuesday that Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson and Jack White will perform at the pre-Grammy show Feb. 6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Dylan's accolade was announced last September. At the time, Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the MusiCares Foundation and The Recording Academy, said Dylan's "body of creative work has contributed to America's culture, as well as that of the entire world, in genuinely deep and lasting ways."

Added MusiCares Foundation Board chair Bill Silva: "Bob Dylan's songwriting ability is unmatched, and it will be an extraordinary evening to hear his work showcased by such a remarkable group of artists."

Past MusiCares Person of the Year honorees include Bono, Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel and Quincy Jones. Proceeds from the event, which is in its 25th year, will support MusiCares, which provides financial and medical help to musicians in need.

The 57th annual Grammys Awards will take place Feb. 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The awards will air live on CBS.

I really hope they'll all be doing songs they haven't done before. It'd be lame if Neil pulled out another rendition of Watchtower and if Willie did What Was It You Wanted again... I want new covers. :)

I agree Dani. It would also be cool if they disregarded Rolling Stone, Watchtower completely.
Million Miles with Susan & Derek is good. Who's doing Narrow Way?

Last year, didn't they do the Beatles tribute show prior to, and as part of the Grammy's, and then show the entire Beatles tribute portion on CBS later as a separate event ?.....or something Like that ?
