Inspired by Dylan's choice of venues for the last couple tours,
let's have a thread dedicated to marvelously beautiful or old theaters.

here's a great flikr page devoted to them. I'll see if i can dig up some shots of the theater i was hoping Bob would select for this year's Chicago stop.

I just bought tix to the RI show. I've never been to that venue. I was trying to do the beacon but I may just get crappy seats to that. My RI seats aren't spectacular and I couldn't get two seats together, my friend and I will have to fight over being in front of each other. I am going to tape it and it looks quite lovely.

the venue in Providence seems pretty great. I recently missed the chance to see Beck there when Jack White joined him on stage.

I stole these from Muleskinner, they are of the Paramount too.

We are indeed fortunate that Bob decided on smaller venues and no other bands, artists, etc. sharing the billing. I expect the sound qualities to be way better and just a more intimate experience than a 20,000 seat stadium. Here is the Paramount in Oakland CA. Can't wait!! :D

I'll be there in the front row of the balcony Thursday, October 30th. I saw one other show out of the 16 I've been to from the balcony of a small theater and the sound and view were both wonderful. It was at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento back on October 10, 2001. I'm really excited for this upcoming Oakland show, too. :D

A Merry Lama that Orpheum Theater is over the top!

So a question for us fans: Did 'we' influence Bob to do his tour without opening acts and smaller venues. I know he has done some theaters in the past; but only theaters?

This place is truly gorgeous. Mrs. Crasho & I had the pleasure of seeing Elvis Costello on his recent solo stop at this particular venue. A small, quaint, lovely neighborhood on the outskirts of Chi-town. Bob would fit right in.

awesome! - how were the acoustics?

So to recap,
We've had the Paramount in Seattle...

Image
One of Christopher Nelson's iconic photos of the Paramount Theatre.

and we're off to the Keller Auditorium, in Portland.

Image

We call the Keller our ‘workhorse’ venue because it hosts such a wide range of performances. The spacious theater, built in 1917 and originally known as the Civic Auditorium, stages Broadway productions, ballet, operas, family events and much more.

Keller Auditorium is located at 222 SW Clay St.(corner of SW 3rd Ave. & Clay), Portland, Oregon 97201
.
