I think there's more likelihood of Bob doing a solo acoustic co-headlining tour with Joan Baez

Being serious though I think Duke burned his bridges with Bob by speaking publicly about it and by doing so shows he wasn't too fussed about burning said bridges. I mean I doubt Bob knows what Duke's said post him leaving the band and I doubt he's heard Svengali but I'd be surprised if they were to appear on stage together again. Plus, I imagine it would be awkward for Duke. It would be great though!

I'm not overly familiar with Duke's stuff but I love what I hear and loved the live stuff he did with Bob (even if Bob didn't! ). I'm a huge, huge blues fan and if Duke were to ever play the UK I'd definitely go to one of his shows :D

Awkward can be good though......Emotion can generate quite the show.
I remember working the stage crew at Yasgur's Farm (Bethel '94) and Leslie West opened up with Corky Laing and Noel Redding as "Mountain."
Corky and Leslie were so ripshit at each other swearing up a storm and Corky was pegging drum sticks at the back of Leslie West's head as he was soloing. West turned around and kicked Corky's drums and the music was incredible! Maybe it was an act. Just sayin' emotions such as anger can be channelled into amazing results.

Not saying that Duke will come back though, was just jivin'....that'd be nuts.
Fun, but nuts. Back to the 'Duke puked' thread.

Oh yeah - figured you were joking around - just thought I'd work out if it could work hypothetically. I still think it's a shame what happened as to my ears Duke sounded great in Bob's band. I'm a huge fan of Charlie though so every cloud and all that.

Yeah, I don't think Duke could handle Bob's downshifting into the lower gears the way Charlie & the rest have seemed to tolerate it. I'm sure back in Charlie's big-hair days he wouldn't have been able to handle such quaaludic actions.

All this speculation on why Duke left. It's been a year and a half now, guys!!

Why don't somebody just ask the guy. He is accessible on Facebook and I am sure he would elaborate on the subject.

He needs to be asked?
It appears that he has elaborated.

I wonder how much he made on his "barely listened to" Bob Dylan cd's and records? (perhaps he was able to get a few signed on his way out the door)

It seems he traded them for a one-way bus ticket back to Rhode Island from Tennessee.

Duke scheduled to play tonight in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and tomorrow in Sarnia, Ontario. Perhaps Bob (or Gordon Lightfoot) will make a surprise appearance...

Dream on.
That would be like expecting a BS12 announcement any day now.

Duke is now hawking "fine art photography" prints (starting at $150 for an 8"x10") on his website

One more coffee and it's back to the Mood Room to sing and paint. Yesterday I got a good start on a painting called "The last time I saw Bob." Bob being Bob Dylan. There is a long story that goes with it but you'll have to wait for my book to hear that one........Hopefully it will be in my show at POP November 25th.
Duke Robillard

Duke Robillard Just a very self absorbed complex man. I can appreciate him now again. From a distance of course!

Duke Robillard Actually no one but a few of my closest friends know the whole story. The last three days I spent with him would read like Alice in Wonderland -NOT!

But if you buy his upcoming cd, he will autograph it for free!

For such an experienced session man who's worked with lots of famous musicians, it's strange that Duke has fixated so much on this short engagement. Seasoned pros like Duke usually pride themselves by not name-dropping and by keeping their cool and not being fazed by rock star diva shit.

Thanks, footy!

Hey Footy! Just was thinking the first time we spoke was at a Bob show with Duke, in RI (I think). Bob acknowledged me cuz I waved my handkerchief in the air, and you, sweetly, told me, as we were walking out, that you saw Bob give me the nod.

I think that was also the night Bob stopped playing the piano, and put his head in his hand on his bended arm resting on piano top, facetiously acting like he was wowed by Duke's fancy frills. The beginning of the end for Dukey Dude.

I think he is that type of guy. Dylan must have been an extraordinary x to him.

Between the rough start (featuring the infamous hands-on-hip stance at at least Buffalo & Kingston) and the train-crash ending (culminating in swampy Atlanta, where the giant cyst ruptured on stage for all, including me, to witness) these were some historically astounding shows. The ones I saw in Bethlehem, Akron, Kalamazoo, and Bowling Green still warm my heart to this day...
