:D thanks

I find Bob Dylan to be a mostly continual stream of brilliance and I must pre-warn you that when I return from Nimes and Lyon I'll potentially have experienced more and may have a desire to discuss it !

correct in your description, bob is a continual stream of pure brilliance rolling, the midnite rain follows the train as the bob express thunders on. very precise description. i have a feeling that bob is saving a few special shows for the peeps in france.

C'mon...you're too smart for that. He didn't write the song on the spot. He just sang an acceptable...even pretty version of it. It was...nice to hear. But it's not "utter brilliance" and you know it. If that's the standard of brilliance...the bar is set waaaaay to low.

I think the English use the word brilliant like Americans say awesome...no?

that's a smart comment, but unfortunately it's not so - an american would describe a bag of peanuts as 'awesome' while no Brit would use the world brilliant in that context, sorry! Brits are becoming increasingly dumb but we have a long way to catch up

I NEVER get sick of High Water.
Very prominent banjo. Beautiful. Thank you Donnie.

It's...rough...out...there!
I hope ya treat me kind!

Harmonica break. Open up your minds boys to every conceivable point of view...

High water eeevvry where!

Harmonica break ... I'm puttin out your eyes!
I told her I didn't really care

More harp...keep away from the Wimmen.
I just can't be happy lord, unless your happy too...

Flowing. No stop start. . . Solid

Technical difficulty. Could get hard rain..
Effed around and then couldn't resist going straight to Can't Wait.

So different and mellow compared to Alcatraz. Wow.
It's good though. Haven't met a version I didn't like. Still can say that

I don't know..I said I don't know!

The end of time has just begun

I left my life with you...

Slow and incredible. With tinkling ivory at the end...

Major echo effect on Jones. More than I recall hearing previously or since.
It works though and they're tight. No qualms.

Watchtower with band intro smack in the middle of it.
And the wind began to howl....

...and then, ironically, no Blowin!

...went back and tried Hard Rain. Solid.
I'm not worried about this boy at all. Rockin.

This is a great performance of Can't Wait - something that may have been sadly lost on much of the festival crowd at the time. Yeah, it doesn't match that outtake from 1997 (an exceptional vocal, even for the time) on TTS, but, for me, it is a real demonstration of what he can achieve in performance - still after all these years he can surprise you. He still has the power to move, in my opinion. It may not be everyone's cup of tea - but all you can ask for is an attention to detail while performing, and it's hard to argue against him not doing that here.

I think my jaw was on the floor during can't wait, one of if not the most extraordinary performances I've seen from Bob live.

Oh yes! Cry A While center-stage! Had almost forgotten about that. He is at the piano on that one nowadays.

One of the great things about that tour was his experimenting with the instrumentation.... it wasn't all settled in yet.

Guitar on baby blue, thc and tuib was pretty great. Would like some more guitar on some songs instead of piano 6-7 songs in a row

Barefoot - is that wild or what - i just riffed about the Omaha tape over on the Madison thread and i hadn't seen your riffing here about listening to the Hop Farm tape - is that synchronicity or what!

your review is more thorough than mine though, har, i was just exclaiming, no, declaiming, oh nevermind.

so why are you listening to Hop Farm just now, that "can't wait" defined pre-Tempest vibe-ing, you'z late.

Tempest will come when the stars are right for her.
