Umm yeah, I know that rumour too, which is all the more reason the headline "First Dates For Bob Dylan & Mark Knopfler Tour Announced" caught my attention.

The venues aren't generelly very big on the late summer tour, are they? During the joint tour here, they played the big barns, so that might speak against it?

I think beyond anything the relatively cheap ticket prices speak against it.

That too.... I didn't check that. But it makes sense for a pre-album release (no new songs) pre-prestigious double header tour.

Absolutely, perfect sense. I'll be happy with both Aug/Sept Bob and then Nov Mark/Bob :)

By the way, Johanna, your avatar is terrific.

How do you find out these numbers? Is there a special online source?

i'm in alberta...if anyone wants to pitch on gas costs & ride to a couple shows with me i'd be fully up for it! i have friends in the area for the 1st 5 tour dates so should be able to find places to stay quite easily.

also this may be of interest to anyone driving from the west for these shows.....if you want to come through the mountains and visit banff national park before dylan kicks off, emmylou harris is playing a show at banff theatre on august 9th! great intimate venue, and near enough to lloydminster

I would love to do that tour. I've lived in the NE, SE and SW and been in the Rockies and California many times but haven't ever been to any of those cities! Cool 8)

You have to google to find the seating capacities. I think Indianapolis is actually 6000. Johnstown is 4000 for a hockey match, so probably more with an endstage setup? LLoyminster says its an outdoor concert on tickemaster, wonder if its more than 3500?

What makes you say this? Just curious. I come from a era when the more notes you heard for your buck, the better, so I've always liked an opening act.

Even if it's a GA SRO, they might as well fill up the hour plus between the doors opening and Bob's first song with some tunage. Last year at the House of Blues in Boston I had to watch the couple in front of me swallow each other's spit for the lead up to the show  . Would much rather have been watching Leon or someone else instead.

I think I'm gonna start a rumor that Bob's gonna be doing at least 8 Boston shows.

I can dream, can't I?

Sure.... that's enough to make me consider taking a little trip.
