It's been going for a while, Richard.

Another Waits cover by Stu!

i like this one.
i don't get the "waits-covers" though.
not that stu has a bad voice, not at all.
was this one partial too? if so, i get it even less.

Yes, one verse only, confirmed by Pagel.

Just got back home to IL...Fantastic show, it was my 7th Dylan show since 10/27/06 in Chicago, and my first since 7/2 in Sauget and first time seeing Charlie play with him.

I've seen Watching The River Flow a few times, but this was a solid version. The Man In Me was very well done, with the best harp of the night from Bob.

Bob was in rather-to-very good voice all night, probably the clearest I've heard him live. The TTL songs were all great..The rhythm on It's All Good reminds me of the Maggie's Farm from Newport '65, in some way or another. Glad to see that had another outing and I hope he sticks with it, it was excellent and Charlie lit it up.
Charlie played a resonator acoustic on This Dream Of You, along with Donnie on mandolin. Pretty cool, seems alot more fleshed out then when we heard it in Sauget.

Speaking of Charlie, he was fun to watch and had a lot of really solid leads. Even the upbeat numbers I've seen multiple multiple times didn't bore me because he interjected something a little different into them then I had seen the previous 6 times with Denny (who I liked).

Dylan was wearing black pants with a yellow/gold stripe, and a blue coat with a black hat. Looked like a riverboat gambler for sure.

The Waits song was hilarious...Bob said something like "Ahwell we got a special guest here tonight, Mr. Tom Waits!" and Stu came up and did pretty solid Waits impersonation for one verse of San Diego Serenade with minimal accompaniment. What made this was Bob had his guitar on and was leaning with one arm on his keyboard with a smirk on his face while Stu sang. Then at the end of the verse he gave Stu a little shove / pat on the shoulder and did some sarcastic looking applause and said something like "well thank you that was really special Tom," and went right into This Dream Of You. Pretty funny.

Also later on between songs he said something like "Is that Willy back there? Oh get Willy out here to sing one for us...Ah we'll get him out here later." I'm not sure if that was a lead-in to another parody or just a joke bout the guitar tech but it never went anywhere, even though Charlie played a little texmex lick on the guitar briefly. Funny stuff, he's never talked at a show I've been to other then the intros.

The two TOOM songs were great and two I was really hoping to catch. That rearrangement of Cold Iron's Bound is wild. I love this year's arrangement of Tryin' To Get To Heaven as well, so I was really happy to see that. Best part was when he delivered the 'I've been all around the woooorld, boys' line with a little grin/look at his band, like Don't they know the half of it, boys?

I can see why he sticks with Thin Man for the regular set closer, that was very cool. He had some harp issues briefly, I don't think it was the wrong key but may have had some reeds blown out cause it took a bit to get locked in, but that was the only fumble on that song. He also picked up the wrong key harp for one of the piano songs (Levee maybe), quickly made a face and dropped it. And that's pretty much the only bad thing I have to say about the night! Lot of fun.

:D No problem, I wanted to make it up to Rockford or one of the Chicago shows, but it didn't pan out so I was glad he came to Bloomington. Gotta love the reserved seating and no opener, a nice change of pace following the 6 hours of standing in Sauget (though that was worth it too).

I'm lovin' it. Bob being playful, letting Stu sing Waits, joking around. Fun! I think he must've switched to a new vitamin regimen.

Brilliant performance.
Love Ballad of a Thin Man with Bob's giant shadow in the background.
Still trying to come down from last nite-didn't want it to end.
