There was really nothing much to dislike about this episode (with the possible exception of Green Day...)!

He actually adviced those of us who didn't already know about Percy Mayfield to go and download some of the previous shows illegally... Funny stuff!

Is this the same song he played in the Dreams show performed by Tony Bennett? Did he say anything about playing it before?

No, it's a different song.
Yes, he did completely explain that it's a different song with the same name. And made some comment about "six versions of Eleanor Rigby" (another quasi-fact to check fot the dis-information file).

The second broadcast is being intercepted at about 12:48
all the sudden it cut into a diffrent lyric.
2 songs... strange strange strange, both partials

I am not the only one who heard this, am I?
cut back to Mr. Dylans voice saying, "Daddy's turn to shine."

holy molely

"put the devil down"

Anyone know which recording of Woody's he plays - from the Asch Recordings,1944, or a later one ?

(An earlier version is listed as Blowin’ Down the Road (I Ain’t Going to Be Treated This Way) in April 1940, rec by Alan Lomax)

I think it's the Asch version. You hear Sonny Terry playing the harmonica and hollering in the background. I wonder if Brownie was playing with them as well?

Right ! Yes, I think it must be this one -

Going Down The Road Feeling Bad ("Lonesome Road Blues") - rec. 1944 on This Land Is Your Land - The Asch Recordings, Vol. 1
Woody Guthrie (vocals, guitar, mandolin, harmonica) - Cisco Houston (guitar, vocals) - Sonny Terry (harmonica)

Didn't say 'versions'. Said 'six songs called'.

Great to hear Laura Cantrell again. Interestingly, '14th Street' was written by Emily Spray after she saw Richard Hell on that very street.

14th Street (Emily Spray)

To a lot of New Yorkers, 14th Street is the unofficial divide between uptown and downtown. I personally love 14th street – the Salvation Army, Union Square, the L train running just below. I think this song also perfectly sums up the moment when you see someone you’re obsessed with on the street and decide whether it’s worth it to say hello or stay safely in the background. I’ve known Emily, a Portland, Oregon native, for many years and really appreciate the New York moment she captured in this song - Laura Cantrell

I actually came away w/ a different feeling, at least production-wise. I felt like this one's script had absolutely no flow from one song to the other :?

Music was pretty good though
