What's way interesting (at least to me :D ) is that "Fruit" was one of the announced but never released shows from Season 2. That leads to another whole thread of speculation. Is it an unreleased show from Season 2? Did they just never get around to recording it till now? Are there other unreleased TTRH episodes? Will we see "Something," "Nothing," and "Streets" too this season? Where can you find a good nickel ceegar?

Well, it's possible they taped 50 shows for season two and just gave us half of them.... saved the rest for now, maybe.

was there an outro for encore or did the XM-SIRIUS DJ happen to mention next week's theme would be fruit?

I listened last night to the encore. Pierre Mancini said to tune in next week when we take a look inside the fruit bowl.

What a lovely show to listen to as I cooked for thanksgiving!!!!!!!! Bob sounded kinda sexy when he said, "Mmmmmmmmmm" He said it several times to boot! My question remains unanswered...are bananas the number one selling and eaten fruit in America or not? TTRH is the next best thing to sliced oranges.

Seen in the context of this show really being from Season 2 (and never broadcast) after the "Trains" shows, it would have been only the second time playing The Beatles. Dylan's voiceovers sound similar to that time period.

What becomes apparent is that a lot of research and planning must have gone into these shows, we know that Fruit was meant for the 2nd series so its possible theme time is recorded quite far in advance and that the second series did end short because of the merger and commercially series 3 was timed to start with the launch of the new Bootleg series. Are we due a longer series this time round I hope so.

IMHO this FRUIT show was recorded near about the same time as Trains, Fools, Death & Taxes, and New York. It wasn't used then as the season was winding down (although we listeners had no way of knowing that at the time). It was used finally at what was deemed an appropriate seasonal time as a Thanksgiving prelude. The Dylan "voice" in this episode sounds similar to the one in those shows (gve Fools a quick listen).

It's also worth noting that this week's (December 3) episode, "Streets," was also an announced episode from Season 2 that never aired. Will we also get "Something," and "Nothing"? Only time will tell.

Another indication that this was recorded some time ago is the lack of the "Brought to you by Cadillac" line in the intro and outro. It was also missing from the war episode, so maybe the new corporate body has nixed additional sponsorship.

Was anyone else taken by Bob's detailed appreciation of the production effects on Strawberry Lane? Two tapes, slowed down tape, elaborate dubs, etc. I thought he hated that kind of production.

even if you hated the production it was a clever song, mind you there is a stripped down acoustic version of it that provides an even more beautiful song

I tend to agree with Adam that "Fruit" was recorded sometime during Season 2, and kept in the archives 'til now. "Why?" is one of those questions that will probably never get answered, although it does lend credence to the theory that Season 2 was truncated, possibly because of the SIRIUS XM merger. I don't follow any of the other independent productions aired on the the two channels closely enough to form an opinion, but it'd be interesting to see if there were other shows that went into hiatus/re-runs during that roughly April through September period.

I'm less convinced that this week's "Streets/Street Map" show was recorded during Season 2 (in fact, I'm not even sure of its title  ), even though it was another announced/unaired Season 2 show. If it was, it means Mr. D. went back and inserted a segment, as he specifically refers to Season 2 in the past tense during the show. And that leads to another whole new branch of speculation. :?:
