I only caught snippets to and from lunch, but I loved the comment to the effect that one of the tracks sounded like it was "recorded in their kitchen on an old 4-track. And I mean that in the best possible sense." :) As an old curmudgeon myself, I feel solidarity with his sense that primitive is better, which goes along with what I've been reading on the Uncut interviews about Oh Mercy and Time out of Mind recording sessions.

Definitely one of the best TTRHs yet! I'm bummed about next week's show being a re-run :? I was really hoping for something spooky :(

What a great show this week. Listened driving home and now in my kitchen. BD is in rare form...very funny. Does anyone else think he is a bit slurry...perhaps a bit of scotch or wine to loosen up. One of the great shows for sure. Too bad about next week only being a rerun.

Loved the $24 martini joke.

I think he just talks that way. He seems to articulate with great effort -- no diss intended. Then he must just get tired and .... slurs. A lot of us do it -- i doubt that he has the patience to redo his "spots" very often.

song mentioned by undonne is Latin Playboys from the movie Desperado -- a spinoff or incarnation of Los Lobos, or something akin to that. Altho I dont think this is the recording on the soundtrack. That whole part was/is a little confusing to me. Beautiful song!

loved all the info this week. interesting stuff about "noir" art/entertainment.

thanks to all our shining benefactors :)

I'm a day late and nobody has mentioned Bob's ju-ju?! (He keeps it in a jar!)
This was such a good show. I especially loved the Latin Playboys - Forever Night Shade Mary, never heard that one and it is fabulous. Really sets a good night-time mood.

Hot damn! Just getting around to listening, and, as clarx alerted me to, this week's email comes from Boulder  What makes matters even more crazy; I know Leon Chessman, he's real! His brother Lonnie was my freshman roommate

In any event, this is probably the best, musically, thus far (even if his researchers sorta found some incomplete info re: Zuzu)

B Zimmerman how can Leon be real when I finally convinced myself that everything and I do mean everything about the show is made up.
And I wrote the wrong thing in my first post of this thread The joke was a $24 manhatten.

Very interesting...so Bob may be talking to some people outside Radioland.

As for incomplete info: that is why he needs to hire a professional news researcher who actually loves music...who do we know like that...let's see, that's right - ME! Do you hear me Greywater, Redtree, Abarnathy Bldg, Pierre whoever you are?! There should be a new librarian in town!
