am i right in thinking that season one was 50 shows (and season 2 was 25? (not counting the fact that there was the odd 'double show') or are there more????????????

I believe you are correct. Season 1 = 50 shows
Season 2 = 25
Americans would say that is half. Don't know if you'd say it different in metrics

I just did some speculation over at Dreamtime on the start date of Season 3. I won't repeat the whole post here, but I'm guessing - and that's all it is - Wednesday, October 1st, or almost six months since Season 2 closed. I suspect the TTRH team negotiated a "six month on, six month off" contract after Season 1.

In any case, the places to keep your eye on are the XM Press Release page and possibly USA Today, as writer Edna Gundersen of that paper has a record of breaking Bob Dylan news.

Almost a whole month away still if that happens :( I was hoping they'd surprise us and just pop on next Wednesday. Well, Oct. 1st has a good ring to it. Hope we get lots of shows whenever it does come back on.

I'm so greedy...going to Santa Monica, Pechanga, tonight San Diego...I should leave now!
and in the back of my mind at Pechanga I'm thinking: When are you going to talk to us
some more, sir? Should I drag a big Theme Time banner into the venue tonight?

Next week -- he has only one show left on the tour --- it's only an hour radio show
& we're Easy, ok most of us are easy.

The old TTRH are great but I really miss that man & I just saw him night before last!

You'll read it here first (actually, you'd read it at Dreamtime first, but that's my prerogative, right? According to my source, TTRH Season 3 will premiere on October 8th in its regular 10:00 am ET slot on Deep Tracks. No word as to the first show's theme.

I've forgotten who it was who speculated that TTRH episodes - or at least Dylan's commentaries - were being recorded only a week or two before airing (based on Dylan's Ike Turner remark just two weeks after his death), but I'm beginning to lean to that theory myself. Dylan takes a hiatus from the N.E.T. in September and TTRH starts airing new shows in October?

Next thing I'm going to start thinking there is an Abernathy Building.

An Abernathy Building....

"The Abernathy Building

The Abernathy family building housed a furniture store on the first and second floor in 1925 where they also sold hardware, dynamite, caps and fuses. On the top floor Luther Abernathy had a funeral parlor."

Wonderful! Thanks for the news. I just wish AOL still provided the free listening service for Deep Tracks. I'll have to wait patiently for the shows to be uploaded and will be so grateful for my in-car entertainment. I'm currently listening to the Tennessee one again (with the barbecue sauce recipe...fat lot of barbecue weather we've had in the UK this summer!)

Not so sure that's the case here though - it is possible Bob will start recording them now, but he would have to do more than one a day on average to have an entire season's worth ready, twice if this season will be 50 episodes again. That seems like a major workload for the guy's only time off since the spring. Then again, he is Bob Dylan.

But it is also quite possible they have them written and are beginning to record them now that the XM-Sirius deal is in place and they were ready to launch new programming, including XM's top rated TTRH. Bob is on tour in October, so it is quite possible that he does do them on the road, just not all the time. Perhaps Eddie G and him write out ideas to work while Bob is on the road as well.

It also should be pointed out that perhaps TTRH S3 was held back to be in position to help promote the release of Tell Tale Signs, as TTRH obviously reaches a lot of folks who aren't Dylan fans per say to begin with and a lot of casual Dylan fans as well. It should be no coincidence that the first episode is aligned with the release of Tell Tale Signs.
