I have a Facebook account and on it, you get to sometimes be "friends" with some people who you hold in great regard. I was lucky enough to be added as a friend to Yoko Ono, which is nice but it really just enables you to find out what she's up to and is thinking about as there has never been any real direct communication.

On the Traveling Around The World Pt2 TTRH show, Bob plays a Yoko clip and talks about Yoko's background. I sent her a message the day after about it, noting what Bob said and that she might be interested.

To my surprise, today upon arriving home and checking the messages, I find Yoko sent me a message:

Quote:
Thank you for the information, Tim. Actually, I did hear about it, but I didn't get the tape yet. I intend to. I love and respect Bob deeply, (who doesn't?) so this is really a fantastic news for me! I'm most grateful to him. Love, yoko

Pretty cool. Just thought you might all be interested.

Oh - and I passed her a link to ExpectingRain.com to check out the TTRH downloads and message board - so you never know, next time you type a message to someone, you might be typing to Yoko here!

:)

Hey... this could be fun... why don't we all have a bet, a wager on who can 'pull' a celebrity and sleep with them... the rules are that you have to 'pull' them through Facebook and you will have to provide vivid photographic evidence that you were successful... I'm actually getting quite close to a certain Jodie Foster... so I may well be very close to lifting the trophy... all I need to do is try and make some sort of contact with her... and then I'll just let my natural charm enchant her.

Considering the content, it is impossible it could be anyone else. Previously unreleased personal photographs from her archives of art projects, advertising - and announcing - upcoming events and exhibits, personal photos taken by her of people at her various shows, having well over 5,000 friends, etc etc etc etc. Obviously, it's her as there is no imitator in the world capable of maintaining that kind of level of a fake Facebook account. Plus Yoko has mentioned it in the press a few times.

And, while at the John Lennon memorial on December 8th, her friends came down from the Dakota to pass out free hats and printed messages from her encouraging everyone to send in personal thoughts, memories and accounts of the memorial to her via a special website and Facebook.

If your nickname has any relevance to your actual sex, she's fakin' it!

Nah, that was just to keep the public of the real, far more embarrassing truth: that she's fallen for thickboy

That pretty cool of her to respond. I really like Yoko. I just searched her name on facebook, but there is like 5..... the main one says "become a fan" instead of "add as friend". is that normal?

The only 'celeb' friend I have made contact with is George Galloway! ha :)

One is the musician profile for Yoko, the other is her personal profile (the one with 4,700 something friends). I'm not sure if she can add new friends though right now as she posted something about Facebook having a limit on how many friends you can have.

Here is the personal info, often updated, from Yoko's profile:

Contact Info
Current Town:
New York, NY
Website:
http://www.IMAGINEPEACE.com
Personal Info
Activities:
I love dancing. I think it's better to dance than to march through life. That's what I do. Your question, then, will probably be: which club do you go to? Well, there's such a thing as playing an air guitar. I just air dance. I'm always dancing in my mind. My body is dancing. My heart is dancing. Join me. It's a good way to go through life. Got rhythm, got the beat, and you got life.
Interests:
The world as we know it, and as we don't know it. I'm totally curious.
Favorite Music:
Music in my head. I dish them out to share it with you.
Favorite TV Shows:
Real people stuff. Facts, not fiction. The past two weeks was the US Open TENNIS MATCHES here in Queens!
Favorite Movies:
Anything that gives me insight. The latest batch strarts with "THE GROUND TRUTH" (fact). The oldest batch starts with, PURPLE NOON (fiction), and I should let you know of my all time favorite animated film, "GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES" - you need a box of kleenex to watch that one.
Favorite Books:
There are so many, it's hard to list them all. I love dictionaries. I have French, German, English and Japanese dictionaries on my desk. They teach me all sorts of things, every time I open them, according to my need.
Favorite Quotes:
An eye for an eye will make us all blind. - Gandhi
If we open a quarrel between the past and the present, we shall find that we have lost the future. - Churchill
Imagine all the people living life in Peace. - John Lennon

The Churchill one is just what I picked up yesterday (September 11th '07) in one of the newspapers. I thought it's a great one. A favorite quote doesn't mean that it's one you held on for years! Be open minded. Keep adding. Keep changing.
About Me:
When I count what's wrong with my life, I get totally depressed.
When I count the good things, I feel like smiling and I do.
Then I think, "well, it's not all that bad."
Life is not a bowl of cherries.
But when I see myself smiling in the mirror, I like myself more.

Well, I said it in the last question. Life is a roller-coaster. That's what I now think.
Recently, I got a message that I was a king, and I should stop the battle, and appreciate my victory.
Well, I should listen to this one.
And you, too, my friend. We are all kings.
The battle is the battle of goodness winning WORLD PEACE.

I love you!
yoko

In the early morning of September 12th, 2007 NYC - overlooking the Central Park from my desk.

Addendum:
At all times, find something that makes you laugh.
Laughter is the best workout!
Chimpanzees are wise to it.
Are you?

There's more music and writings on my MySpace page: http://myspace.com/officialyokoono

Due to Facebook currently having a 5000 friend limit, I have started a Yoko Ono 'Page', which has no friend limits.

Here is a photo she took of the crowd gathering at the "Dream Power John Lennon 2007" event in Japan recently:

And here is a note about that event she wrote for Facebook, including poem she read at the event:

Dear Friends / Revelations: December 2007

December 12, 2007
Dear Friends,

Around the world, December 8th was a day of remembrance for John Lennon.

In Reykjavik, I heard that the December 8th remembrance ceremony at the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER on Videy Island went beautifully. The ferry had special trips until 11pm and several hundred people went on Videy into the night.

In New York City, thousands of people gathered on December 8th, at Strawberry Fields in Central Park, throughout the day and night to celebrate and remember John.

I was in Tokyo on December 8th, participating in the annual Dream Power tribute concert for John at the historical Budokan, the concert hall where the Beatles did their concert many years ago. Every year I travel to Japan to be at the Dream Power celebration.

This is the seventh year of this particular charity concert, DREAM POWER, which raises money to build schools in Africa and Asia for children in desperate need. We have already built 65 schools. We hope to reach 100 by the tenth year, 2010.

Eleven thousand people attended DREAM POWER, flashing the ONOCHORD message, i ii iii (I Love You) to each other. It was really hot, hot, hot! And I'm not speaking of the weather!

I, also, deeply appreciate all of your messages of care and love to me on that painful day. There were many; all of them were very thoughtful and kind, clearly trying to help me feel better, even though you were going through your own pain too. Thank you so much. I feel strongly that we are family.

After the concert in Japan, I rushed back home to New York, so I could start taking care of the holiday preparations for my family. We celebrate the holidays, more or less in the way we have done since John and I've made N.Y. our home. Sean comes home, every year, from wherever he is, to decorate the xmas tree in the kitchen, as he always has. He is making his mother very happy by doing so, and he knows it!

So for the holidays, be busy. Have fun. And remember to be kind and giving - to yourself first. For you are beautiful, and we love you.

We shall speak again after the New Year. Let's hope it's a good one without any fear.

With love, yoko

REVELATIONS
by Yoko Ono

Bless you for your anger.
For it is a sign of rising energy.
Direct not to your family, waste not on your enemy.
Transform the energy to versatility
And it will bring you prosperity.

Bless you for your sorrow
For it is a sign of vulnerability.
Share not with your family, direct not to yourself.
Transform the energy to sympathy
And it will bring you love.

Bless you for your greed
For it is a sign of great capacity.
Direct not to your family. Direct not to the world.
Transform the energy to giving.
Give as much as you wish to take,
And you will receive satisfaction.

Bless you for your jealousy
For it is a sign of empathy
Direct not to your family, direct not to your friends.
Transform the energy to admiration
And what you admire
Will become part of your life.

Bless you for your fear
For it is a sign of wisdom.
Do not hold yourself in fear.
Transform the energy to flexibility
And you will be free
From what you fear.

You are a sea of goodness,
You are a sea of love.
Bless you, bless you, bless you.
Bless you for what you are.

Bless you for your search of direction
For it is a sign of aspiration.
Transform the energy to receptivity
And the direction will come to you.

Bless you for the times you see evil.
Evil is energy mishandled and it feeds on your support.
Feed not and it will self-destruct.
Shed light and it will cease to be.

Bless you for the times you feel no love.
Open your heart to life anyway
And in time you will find
Love in you.

Count your blessings every day for they are your protection
Which stands between you and what you wish not.
Count your curses and they will be a wall
Which stands between you and what you wish.

The world has all that you need
And you have the power
To attract what you wish.
Wish for health, wish for joy.
Remember you are loved.

I love you!
y.o.

I'm glad Bob praised her on Theme Time - she gets a bum wrap far too often. But she's proven herself many times over since.

B.D. sang about her on Planet Waves:

Ono, I don't need any reminder
To know how much I really care
But it's just making me blinder and blinder
Because I'm up on a hill and still you're not there.
