I have quit using the webstats4u service in order to get rid of the popup ad. I will instead rely on Urchin or Google Analytics. For the record, this site's best webstats4u day so far was Sept 27 2005 with 16716 visitors. This would equal about 18000 sessions in Urchin. (I have no Urchin stats for the days around Sept 27.) A 'Session' is defined as a series of clicks on the site by an individual visitor during a specific period of time. So 18000 is the record to beat from now on. I'll let you know if it happens.

Please forgive the popup window that started to appear last week. It is served by the webstats4u site that I use to get easy statistics for my site. It seems they are doing this to make money. Their service used to be free, now it serves the popup, or else one can pay for an ad free version, but I haven't been able to find out how much that would cost. By a stroke of coincidence, Google this week opened their free Google Analytics service, and I have signed up for this. It seems they have startup problems, for I haven't seen any stats yet.

I have discovered that loading this page in some browsers also brings up a popup ad. This seems to be due to the statistics button from webstat4u that I have on the lower left of the front page. This is too bad, because I liked those simple statistics they offer. But they are no longer free, so I have to look for other solutions. If you know of an equally simple and free choice with no ads, please let me know.
